Traffic Engineer or Assistant Traffic Engineer
Applications are now being accepted for the position of Traffic Engineer or Assistant Traffic Engineer in
the Traffic Engineering Department at Ada County Highway District in the Boise, Idaho area. Starting
wage is $58,740-$76,107 annually/DOQ.

Primary Responsibilities:
- The Traffic Engineer/Assistant Traffic Engineer performs professional transportation engineering
work including the traffic review of development applications and related traffic impact studies
including the traffic flow and safety features of developments and developer-funded projects;
directs data collection for District planning and safety programs and for evaluation of traffic
impacts of proposed developments; reviews the design of developer projects; serves as a traffic
representative on Capital projects.
The Traffic Engineer/Assistant Traffic Engineer may also supervise assigned Traffic Engineering
staff.
- Qualifications: The successful candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of transportation engineering and
planning principles and practices. Must also have considerable knowledge of project planning and project
management principles and practices, and statistical research procedures as they apply to traffic engineering. - Traffic Engineer: Must possess an Idaho Professional Engineering (PE) license, or the ability to obtain
within one year. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related Engineering field
is required; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required
knowledge, skills, and abilities. - Assistant Traffic Engineer: Must possess an active Idaho Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certificate, or the ability to obtain within one year. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field and professional level engineering experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
