Facilities Maintenance Technician
Summary
Under general supervision of the Program Manager, this position provides overall facilities maintenance support for complex facilities having office, laboratory, computer, warehouse and other special purpose spaces. Work assignments are given in terms of program areas of responsibility. Incumbent performs preventive maintenance and general repairs and improvements to building interior and exterior spaces and facility operating systems (e.g., Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC); electrical; plumbing; other mechanical; and lighting). Incumbent also performs general carpentry and repair of facility structures as well as minor plumbing work. Incumbent also receives non-supervisory guidance from the site designated Government Point of Contact. Performance is evaluated in terms of effectiveness in completing assigned work tasks, and ability to foster and maintain constructive and positive work relationships with all staff and management. Effective and collaborative communication with the Government Point of Contact is essential for successful completion of assigned tasks.
Pay rate is $31.90/hour + competitive benefits package; Day Shift schedule
Minimum Qualifications
- Five years of experience with inspection and/or maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Five years of experience with multi-trades work (e.g., two or more of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, flooring).
- Knowledge of operations, services, and activities of a building maintenance, repair, and construction program.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, terminology, equipment and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work.
- Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply facility maintenance manuals and technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans and specifications.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to pass a pre-employment physical (including a drug test).
Preferred Qualifications
- Seven or more years of increasingly responsible facility maintenance experience.
- Any skilled trades work certification
- Associates degree in business, management, engineering, construction, or other related field.
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
- 40 hour OSHA Certification
- Hazardous waste Operations Certification
