Licensed Veterinary Technician
Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians are a core part of the Treatment Team. They receive, handle, and treat patients both for Technician appointments and as a Treatment Team Technician. They are required to perform laboratory tests and dispense/administer medications and vaccines as prescribed. They are required to have regular attendance and timeliness as well as strong communication skills. Technicians are expected to perform general physical activities that require bending, standing, stooping, and moving from room to room. You may be required at times to walk or stand for long periods of time especially during surgery. Considerable tact and diplomacy is required with this position. The ability to work with clients and patients in a professional, friendly, and hospitable manner are essential to this role. This position needs people who work well with all our employees to ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the medicine that we practice.

* Infectious Disease - basic understanding of infectious disease and fomites.
* Sterility - understanding of the concept of sterility as it applies to surgical suite, instruments, and surgical prep.
* Laboratory - know proper handling, preparation, and storage of lab samples.

* Licensure as a Veterinary Technician by the Washington State Department of Health required
* Recognize and assist in solving professional, administrative, and supervisory problems in assigned area.
* This position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in solving nursing problems within established policies and practices and is reviewed by the LVT Lead through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.
* Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
* Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures. Thorough working knowledge of Cornerstone, the veterinary operating system used by the practice. Knowledge of all in house systems of processing all diagnostic work sent out and the record keeping involved with the results.
* English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of medical terminology, its correct usage and spelling.
* WAD/RCW - governing veterinary assistant position.
