Public Works Utility Worker
The City of Benton City is a seeking a Public Works Utility Worker. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and current WA St. Driver’s License. For this Position a valid Class A/B CDL and a spray license for R.O.W applications is required, but may be obtained within the first year of employment with a 2-year employment commitment. A successful candidate must have knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities. Knowledge in operations of tools and equipment. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Be available for off-hour emergencies on a rotating basis. Probationary Wages for Maintenance/Utility Worker 1 (80%) for the first 6 months is $18.83/hour, 6 months to 12 months is (90%) at $21.18/hour, and after Probationary period of 1 year $23.54/hour plus excellent benefits.
