General Function
Four positions available, hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Duration - three months
Under supervision, performs manual work and operates hand tools and small equipment to maintain drainage ditches, culverts, detention/retention ponds, and grounds, including maintenance facility for the Public Works and Utilities Department.
Representative Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Participate as an active team member of a crew.
- Capable of following guidelines, established maintenance practices and safety regulations.
- Assist in maintaining drainage ditches, culverts, detention/retention ponds, and grounds, including maintenance facility.
Other Duties:
- Regular attendance is an essential requirement
- Performs related work as assigned and/or required
Qualifying Education and Experience (Minimum Requirements)
- High School graduate or GED equivalent preferred;
- Previous experience in utility facilities maintenance or related field;
- Valid Washington State driver's license;
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Knowledge of:
- Methods, equipment and materials associated with waterworks practices;
- Operational characteristics, service and maintenance of water supply, storage, transmission, pumping and service;
- Safe working practices and procedures;
- Operation and use of hand and power tools and related equipment;
- Health and safety regulations and procedures;
- Proper lifting techniques.
Ability to:
- Operate and maintain assigned tools and equipment;
- Work cooperatively with other departments and divisions;
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

LEGAL and REGULATORY EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Fair Labor Standards Act: The classification is non-exempt under the laws of Fair Labor Standards Act minimum wage and overtime provisions.
Representation: The classification is excluded from the bargaining unit pursuant to the Recognition Article of the current labor agreement between the City of Bremerton and the Teamsters Local 589.
Civil Service: The classification is excluded from the City's Civil Service System.
Appointment and Removal Authority: The position is filled by appointment by the Department Head. Removal is by action of the Department Head in conformance with Human Resources Policies.
This classification specification does not constitute an employment agreement between the City and employee. It is subject to change by the City, with the approval of Human Resources, as the needs of the City and requirements change
