Summary
Come join the Parks maintenance team at the City of Kirkland!
We are looking for a new member to join the team beginning in May.
The Groundsperson position operates a variety of equipment and performs labor under supervision to contributing to the development and maintenance of City parks and public grounds. Responsible for landscaping, turf and tree maintenance of City properties using elementary level skills of pruning, transplanting, planting, drainage, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, and edging. Responsible for cleanliness and orderly appearance of parks, facilities, and public grounds. Performs service on mowers and other equipment. Landscapes City properties -- planting and transplanting trees, vegetation, and shrubbery. Prunes trees and shrubs. Helps in the installation and repair of City properties using elementary level skills of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, cement finishing, and mechanical skills. Assists in the maintenance and repair of irrigation and drainage systems. Assists in installing brick and cement walkways, stairways, and park benches. Operates vehicles, equipment, and a variety of hand and small power tools as required to support grounds operations. Performs cleaning maintenance of City's facilities and parks. Performs sports field maintenance of over sanding, fertilizing, grass seeding, dragging and leveling infields, and watering.
Note: This a temporary position working full-time from May through early December.
Hours of Work
7-day a week operation.
Assigned hours are 1:00 p.m.to 11:30 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays will be a part of the normally scheduled work week.
Minimum Qualifications- One year experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or closely-related field.
- Ability to operate a variety of power tools.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License required.
- Elementary skill levels in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, cement finishing, and mechanical skills.
Horticulture, Skilled Trades, and Turf Maintenance.
Working Conditions & Physical Activities- Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Work involves operating riding mowers which are loud and vibrate while in operation.
- Position requires moving of objects weighing from 30 to 50 pounds.
This position is represented by the Teamsters Local 763, membership options will be available to you upon employment.
