Summary
Assists Information Technology Network and Operations staff members in their duties, thereby providing the Information Technology Intern the opportunity to learn about the functions and activities of an Information Technology Department while contributing valuable work to the City. Assists the Network and Operations Division by performing a variety of tasks and participating in short-term and long-term projects, such as PC deployments, Help Desk, and documentation. Assists users with computer and telephony hardware and software problems and questions and arranges timely service from outside vendor support organizations when needed.

Open to community college or undergraduate college students only. Must be enrolled in a program focused on computer science or a related field of study through the duration of internship.

Hours of Work
There is one position available for Full Time 40 hours/week. Core business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Candidates will be asked in the application process which position(s) are of interest.
Minimum QualificationsCurrent enrollment in a community college or undergraduate program focused on computer science or a related field of study is required. Requires a well-developed understanding of and experience in the use of PC hardware and software running in a Windows 10 environment. Excellent written, analytic, and verbal communication skills required.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with local area networks running in a Windows environment preferred. Skill with the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Outlook highly desirable.
Working Conditions & Physical ActivitiesIncumbent is typically required to reach, stand, walk, finger, talk, hear, and perform activities requiring repetitive motions. Work is typically light work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as light work.
