Summary
The Quartermaster is a non-sworn position within the Kirkland Police Department. The Quartermaster supports the infrastructure of the police department's day-to-day operations related to the procurement and dissemination of uniforms, equipment and supplies. Assists in maintaining operational readiness for personnel and vehicles. Principal accountabilities of this position include:
- Maintains, orders and distributes supply of uniforms, duty gear, portable radios, guns, body armor, badges and other required equipment for officers and staff.
- Ensures new employees are measured and fitted for uniforms.
- Instructs officers on what uniforms and equipment are authorized for wear/use while on duty.
- Maintains accurate records of uniforms, equipment and supplies issued. Maintains databases for tracking, ordering or restocking uniforms, supplies, parts and equipment.
- Coordinates vehicle repairs and equipment installation with City fleet personnel. Ensures proper licensing of vehicles.
- Maintains current catalogs and vendor information. Keeps apprised of current technology related to law enforcement equipment.
- Researches product information. Contacts vendors for parts, cost estimates and product specifications. Assists in evaluation of products and supplies. Participates in the preparation of bid proposals and makes purchase recommendations.
- Analyzes expenditures and future cost projections for equipment budget. Conducts annual inventory of department capital assets.
- Administers building access control system. Coordinates and schedules repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies. Manages department issued cellphones and radios. Administers gas mask fit testing for the department.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 2 years experience preferred in procurement and/or inventory control or supply chain management. Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License. Must possess physical capacity to perform essential functions and related job responsibilities. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task and work in a self-directed fashion with limited supervision. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to effectively interact with internal staff and external contacts. Ability to operate a computer and knowledge/experience with a variety of software programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, Sharepoint, and file conversion. Ability to use/navigate the Internet to find resources and make purchases.
Note: Must be able to obtain a police security clearance including polygraph, psychological and background prior to hire.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious procurement/inventory control/supply chain management in a law enforcement environment preferred.

Hours of WorkTo be mutually agreed upon at time of job offer. A 4/10 work schedule is available.
Must be able to work varying hours if needed.
Working Conditions & Physical ActivitiesWork is performed in a typical office and equipment/supply room environment with most time spent sitting, standing or walking. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and lift and move packages up to 30 lbs. with and without aids.
