Summary
The Senior IT Business Analyst performs operational and organizational research, analyses business/technical workflows to recommend design and process improvements for technology systems. Works actively with technical and business staff to develop functional and technical requirements for solutions to business problems. Devises test plans, builds test cases to test the functional/technical requirements. Develops training programs to support business users of applications. Performs basic project management functions to oversee and drive projects or tasks within projects.
Essential Functions:
- Performs project management functions.
- Oversee and support cross-functional teams working on individual tasks and projects.
- Track and report progress towards milestones and deliverables. Provide regular updates to the leadership team.
- Escalate project risks to the Project Manager. Work with the Project Manager to recommend mitigation strategies.
- Conduct close out meetings for completed tasks and projects, and document lessons learned, process improvements, and efficiencies gained.
- Work with cross-functional teams in IT to create technical and functional requirements, policies, standard operating procedures, system requirements or procedures and other supporting documentation.
- Support the Project Manager to create templates and tools to standardize project management and other operations across teams.
This is a 6-month temporary assignment with an anticipated end date of 12/31/2019.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of systems lifecycle, application support, vendor engagement, change management, testing, and user-training.
- Experience and knowledge mapping business processes using a variety of tools such as flow charts, swim lane diagrams, etc.
- Strong planning, communication, organization, problem solving and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and overseeing matrixed teams.
- Can apply basic project management skills to manage scope, schedule and track resources.
- Can oversee cross-functional teams and hold teams accountable for delivering and staying on schedule.
- Competent to work at the highest level in all phases of business analysis activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a closely related field; three to five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred QualificationsPMP, Scrum master, or other project management credentials and ITIL certifications.
Hours of Work8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
Working Conditions & Physical ActivitiesWork is generally performed in an office setting and will include standing and sitting for long intervals of time.
