CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Background
Classical KING FM is the public classical station serving Seattle and the Puget Sound Region. Seattle is undergoing tremendous growth thanks to its long history as a hub of innovation. Amazon, Microsoft, Costco and Starbucks (among others) are headquartered here and Facebook, Google, Salesforce and Apple have a major presence in the area. Classical KING will leverage the tremendous resources in the region to chart a new course for the station and classical radio.
Overview
The chief operating officer (COO) oversees the implementation, oversight, and reporting of Classical KING FM’s financials, operations, human resources, and compliance. Reporting to the CEO and working as a key member of the leadership team, the COO takes a lead role in building, implementing, and overseeing all the systems, workflows, and procedures of the organization. The COO also plays a critical role in shaping and guiding the growth and development of KING FM.

Demonstrated leadership experience in the nonprofit sector is essential, as is the passion to work in a team environment. The successful candidate will be able to see the big picture and plan out and track details, be goal-oriented and task driven, design efficient systems, and be a strong communicator and a calm, steady presence in the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Supports the CEO in implementing strategic goals and plans set by the board and senior leadership.
- Creates and manages the budget, and prepares monthly financial statements.
- Manages all resources required to operate the organization.
- Oversees human resources including benefits selection and administration, performance reviews, and professional development plans for the team.
- Manages relationships with external resource providers.
- Oversees compliance in all areas including PCI, Federal Communications Commission, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, in addition to compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Works with external auditors on annual audit for three organizations and Form 990s, with tax advisers on tax returns for three organizations, and oversees completion of annual reports for the Federal Communications Commission and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- 7-10 years relevant experience in human resources, financial management and operations.
- Financial reporting capabilities including budgeting and cash flow management
- Strong general IT infrastructure knowledge
- Strong human capital management experience
- Genuine commitment to compliance and ensuring all staff members make it a priority
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and an ability to communicate successfully in writing, by phone or in person. Poised manner; ability to exercise discretion and judgement and professionally handle sensitive situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Compensation Range: $80,000 - $95,000 commensurate with experience
