This position is a hybrid position which allows the incumbent to complete their work at both an NAU site, campus, or facility and at a non-centralized site with or without accommodation.
Job Description
NAU's Office of Sponsored Projects is hiring for 2 Grant Fund Managers, Intermediate to join their dynamic team. Grant Fund Managers assist faculty and Post-Award Research Administrators in the Office of Sponsored Projects, with a primary focus on fiscal compliance. They assist in the management of grant/award funds to ensure compliance with federal, state and university regulations and guidelines and support the management of those funds to increase university efficiency. Grant Fund Managers analyze grant spending and interpret project budgets to provide accurate and timely financial information to Principal Investigators, unit administrators and others responsible for the oversight and management of grants and contracts.
Fund Management - 45%
- Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of concepts, processes, and practices.
- Advise on the appropriateness of expense items to conform to Uniform Guidance and other rules/regulations.
- Collaborate with PIs and Post-Award Research Administrators to close-out grant projects timely.
- Participate in training sessions pertaining to post-award fund management.
Compliance and Reporting - 45%
- Gather and update and report data/information related to grant administration.
- Prepare and submit internal financial reports and reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Produce reports and communications that interpret information for key stakeholders.
- Recommend financial actions to ensure proper use of sponsored project resources.
- Analyze budgetary activity and advise Principal Investigators (PIs) on mechanisms for, and allowability of budget modifications and/or no-cost extensions.
Other - 10%
- Ad hoc reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; AND,
- 2-4 years of accounting experience; OR,
- Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accounting experience in Higher Education or Government.

Knowledge
- Working knowledge of tools, procedures, processes, policies, and concepts of sponsored projects administration, specifically non-routine post-award fund management and reporting.
- Knowledge of financial reporting in higher education and university budgeting processes.
- Knowledge of GAAP and Uniform Guidance.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and private agency contract and grant regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of research methods, and grant and contract administration.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Skill in writing detailed numerical computations and reports.
- Skill in computerized accounting systems and applications.

Salary
Anticipated salary range is $41,500 to $49,500. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
