Proposal and Award Generalist
Penn State Harrisburg is seeking a Research Proposal and Award Generalist to support all efforts within the Office of Research and Outreach necessary to ensure development and on-time submission of complete, solicitation-compliant research proposals by Penn State Harrisburg faculty members. Responsibilities include:
- Manage development and submission of research proposals including budgets, budget justifications, and other proposal components
- Ensure compliance with cost-share, export control, publication restrictions, and other requirements
- Coordinate with University offices including the Penn State Office of Sponsored Programs, Penn State Harrisburg academic and administrative units, and with sponsor and partner organizations in proposal development activities
- Help administer research seed funding programs of the Office of Research and Outreach
- Support management and administration of centers and institutes within the Office of Research and Outreach and other units of the College
- Maintain knowledge of faculty expertise and alert faculty members to relevant research funding opportunities; organize faculty seminars and workshops on sponsored research funding opportunities
- Work directly with individual faculty members and teams to design approaches to potential sponsors, promote research capabilities, and design budgets including approaches for meeting sponsor cost-share requirements
- Perform analysis and produce reports, presentations, and briefing materials on Penn State Harrisburg sponsored research development and administration
This position is an integral part of an extensive team including the staff of the Office of Research and Outreach, plus a network of more than 200 research-active faculty members and 20 technical and administrative staff housed within the five academic schools and various research centers and institutes and administrative offices at the College.
This position will be filled as either Level 2 or Level 3. The position requires a Associate's degree or higher, along with least two years of professional experience preferably in higher education sponsored research administration, and relevant professional certifications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a Level 2. Additional education and experience may be required for higher levels.
This position requires the successful completion of standard background check(s) in accordance with University policy.
