ESUC has approximately 400 members with an annual budget of roughly $1M. The congregation owns a campus of more than 5 acres and contains the Sanctuary building (originally built in 1955 and expanded and remodeled several times since), Administration Building and a Multipurpose Building. The congregation has worked hard to keep up with the levels of management and leadership required for a church of its size. Our capable staff team values collaboration and camaraderie.
The Board of Directors seeks a DFO who is a strong communicator with experience and training in financial management. Project management and organization are critical skills. Interruptions are a part of the job in our busy office, so the person holding this position must be flexible, willing to learn and ready to seek help and support from other staff and lay leadership for initiatives responding to challenges that present themselves.
The DFO will interact with a wide range of people, and so must be both professional and personable, committed to inspiring and nurturing a culture of exceptional member and community service. Commitment to diversity and anti-racism is a must. Work includes some Sunday mornings and occasional evenings, and therefore has some flexibility during regular hours.
Persons of all faiths are invited to apply, however we desire a candidate who understands and honors the values and mission of our congregation. For more information about ESUC and Unitarian Universalism, please visit the websites at esuc.org and uua.org.

Benefits include paid vacation time (accruing at 3.35 hour per pay period in the first year and increasing with tenure in the position), holidays and sick leave, and the option to join the UUA’s health insurance plan. ESUC employees are covered under Washington State’s Workers Compensation. Long-term disability insurance and Life Insurance are available through the UUA Group Insurance Plan. This is a family-friendly workplace. ESUC’s Employee Handbook (available at time of interview) provides information on additional benefits and information.
