Access to Care Veterinarian
Emancipet is seeking full time Veterinarians. More than a career, it's a movement.
The Organization: Who is Emancipet?
Emancipet is a non-profit organization on a mission to make veterinary care affordable and accessible to everyone. Over the last 23 years we have grown our network of low-cost veterinary clinics, which we strategically located inside medically underserved and low-income neighborhoods. We are honored and proud to serve as the safety net of America's veterinary care industry, serving pets whose families cannot afford or access care through the prevailing for-profit veterinary care model.
Emancipet clinics offer high-volume, high-quality primary care, spay/neuter services, and a locally-selected set of services that reflect the highest priority needs in the communities we serve, such as dental care or heartworm treatment. Over time, we have become one of the largest providers of veterinary health care in the country, welcoming over 230,000 visits to our clinics each year.
The Opportunity:
We are growing our network of non-profit clinics in three cities: Austin, TX, Houston, TX, and Philadelphia, PA, and are seeking veterinarians to join our movement to ensure that veterinary care is for everyone. The veterinary positions are in primary care (healthy pet services) and high volume spay/neuter. Starting salary is $105,000 and commensurate with experience and job function. We offer training in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter technique for veterinarians who are committed to the mission and dedicated to a long-term goal of 30 surgeries per day.
Emancipet offers a unique and flexible work environment. Benefits include an annual CE allowance, 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental insurance, access to a range of free wellness and supportive services through our Employee Assistance Program, deeply discounted supplemental insurance through AFLAC and other products like Norton Lifelock, discounted veterinary products and services, and eligibility to apply for tax-free student loan forgiveness through the federal government's Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
But the true benefits of working at Emancipet are found in our mission and culture. You'll be joining a team of compassionate, hard-working, and optimistic veterinary professionals who share a vision for a different kind of veterinary industry: one that is more inclusive, equitable, and compassionate to those who love their pets but struggle financially. Emancipet currently employs over 200 veterinary health care administrators and leaders including veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Our veterinarians come to us from a variety of backgrounds, but what they all share in common is the desire to be able to say "yes, we can help." At Emancipet, no one is ever turned away because of an inability to pay.
Is it You?
Above all, we are seeking a veterinarian with a deep commitment to serving the underserved. Our clients range from those living in poverty to those struggling in the aftermath of the pandemic to those on a fixed income. All love their pets and deserve quality care. You might be who we are looking for if:
- You love being a veterinarian, and you are passionate about sharing your knowledge with others, whether clients or co-workers, you are always eager to teach and share.
- You see medicine as a team sport (more like a pit crew member than a cowboy, as Atul Gawande says) and you love working collaboratively with other veterinarians, technicians, and administrators to achieve quality clinical outcomes and outstanding customer experiences.
- You are energized by experiences where you give back and give your all. You see a volunteer opportunity to travel to distant lands to do a week of tough, sweaty volunteer work to help people or animals, and you've signed up before you finish reading the description!
- You have a growth mindset. You know that you, and those around you, aren't done growing or learning, and you get excited about opportunities that might bring about more growth.
- You have a DVM and are eligible to work in Pennsylvania and/or Texas.
