The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will:

  • Manage all aspects of cases for assigned attorneys including court documents, case schedules, trial dates, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.
  • Draft, prepare and format correspondence based on firm standards and individual attorney preferences.
  • File pleadings with courts and serve counsel with pleadings. 
  • Schedule appointments, depositions, court reporters, process servers, client meetings and other matter-related meetings. 
  • Maintain attorneys calendars, set deadlines, reminders and other action items as needed.
  • Receive and process medical records for assigned cases.
  • Ensure outgoing mail, email, overnight and messenger deliveries are delivered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage case documents using NetDocuments.
  • Assist other firm attorneys as requested and required in the absence of, or in addition to, their regularly assigned legal assistant.  

The skills, abilities and experience of successful candidates include:

  • Minimum three years’ experience providing attorney support in a law firm.
  • Prior experience in insurance defense litigation and/or medical malpractice (desired).
  • Prior experience gathering medical records.
  • Experience working with experts.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal court rules.
  • Documentation demonstrating exceptional writing and grammar.
  • Initiative and comfortability working independently under minimal supervision.
  • Professional communication with a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff via email, phone and in-person.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload and timelines.
  • Flexibility in responding to multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience with NetDocuments desired, but not required.

Compensation:  $60,000 – $80,000  DOE
