Branch Manager
FVRLibraries is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and community-oriented Branch Manager to provide leadership at Cascade Park Community Library, the second largest and one of the busiest of 15 libraries throughout our district.
Cascade Park Community Library is located in the Firstenburg Community Center complex in east Vancouver, adjacent to the popular community center run by Vancouver Parks & Recreation. The 24,175 sq. ft. beautiful, modern, open and airy library building was built in 2009 and features a Teen Space, an Early Learning Space, a Community Meeting Room, study rooms and a fireplace. In addition, there is a used book store run by Friends volunteers. The Community Center Complex serves as the community hub in east Vancouver.
The Branch Manager is involved in the day-to-day operations of the branch and serves as the face of the library district in east Clark County, coordinating outreach and building relationships with stakeholders in the community. The Branch Manager leads and develops a diverse team of 22 (18.8FTE), along with a Branch Operation Manager and Public Service Librarians. The Branch Manager works with library staff at all levels and at different departments throughout the district and is expected to participate in district workgroups. Branch management, program and staff development, and the ability to build community partnerships are key to this role. Cascade Park Community Library has developed strong partnerships with the local school district, businesses, and social services agencies in the area, and is known for its youth programming and strong sense of teamwork among staff. Problem-solving, planning for and responding to the needs of staff and patrons, collaborating with colleagues and community partners, and managing the overall operation of the branch are critical competencies for this fast-paced position.
Other essential responsibilities for the position include planning and conducting programs, attending community events as the library representative and fostering a positive relationship with the Friends of the Library. The Branch Manager is expected to work closely with other managers, especially colleagues in Clark County in program sharing, planning and strategy building.
Pay & Benefits
The compensation for this position begins at $62,069.28 per year with an excellent benefits package including health insurance, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, disability benefits, Washington State PERS retirement and paid time off.
Schedule
This schedule varies based on the needs of the branch. This position is expected to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
Minimum Education & Experience
Candidates will not be considered for this position unless their application materials indicate they have the following:
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or ability to obtain a Washington State certification upon hire.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience, with customer service experience.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of supervisory experience, with experience managing people.
