Vineland (thedailyjournal.com) in Vineland, New Jersey, part of the USA Today Network, has an opening for a full-time public safety enterprise reporter.
We are looking for a new teammate who is a curious storyteller with keen observational skills, quick reflexes, strong instincts and the ability to develop sources that go beyond official voices. This reporter will be expected to regularly spend time exploring Cumberland County, building relationships and delivering stories that highlight real people and how issues of crime and public safety factor into their lives. Your focus should be on impact over incidents.
You will be part of the South Jersey newsroom – Burlington County Times, Courier-Post and The Daily Journal – and will be expected to contribute to regional storytelling along with local reporting.
This beat may also include reporting and writing about issues and stories within Atlantic City’s casino economy.
If you want to rewrite news releases and wait for news to find you, this isn’t the beat - or newsroom - for you. But, if you believe everyone has a story to share and want to tell those stories from small towns and neighborhoods that are hard to find on a map, we want to hear from you.
This reporter will be expected to write several stories a week and balance a schedule of enterprise content. Respect for issues of equality, race, religion, age, ethnicity, gender identity and sexual orientation are key to success. Second-language skills are a plus.

We want to know more about you and how you’ll bring your energy and excitement to the job. Tell us what’s not on your resume that makes you the journalist we need to bring into the newsroom. Put together a single document, preferably in a PDF format, that includes the following:
· Your resume, limited to one or two pages
