Marine Structural Designer
Glosten, Inc. (equal opportunity employer) is looking for a talented individual to join the Production Engineering team as a Marine Structural Designer.
The ideal candidate should have experience with Cadmatic Hull 3D modeling software. This position requires creative problem solving, interpretation of technical drawings or specifications, and practical decision-making. This person will work with a team of designers and engineers, will communicate with clients and shipyards, and will create 3D models and 2D production drawings. The candidate will be fully versed in common vessel design and construction practices. The ability to do structural design is required. An understanding of vessel systems design is beneficial.
Glosten's Production Engineering group provides marine construction information and design to support construction of a wide variety of marine projects. This position is NOT for graphic design or artistic rendering. This is a technical modeling and design position that generates 3D models and 2D drawings for vessel production purposes.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Create 3D structural models using Cadmatic, AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Rhino and other CAD programs.
- Annotate 2D production drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD.
- Work with a team to support large, long term projects.
Education and Training:
- Production software training with Cadmatic or ShipConstructor.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 4 years 3D CAD structural experience using Cadmatic, Rhino or ShipConstructor.
- The ability to loft structural parts from 2D drawings.
- Shipyard experience.
- Drafting experience creating detail drawings for use by production.
Desirable Experience:
- An understanding of vessel systems design and the ability to route pipe systems in a 3D model.
A working knowledge of structural design, build strategy, and production drawings are critical skills for this position as well as a good understanding of 3D CAD modeling and a willingness to teach and learn new software.
