Summary



We are seeking a 911 Principal Production Engineer to join our team! The King County 911 Program Office supports 11 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in King County in addition to maintaining two test environments. This position serves as an escalation point for a small team of Production Engineers supporting 911 Infrastructure in King County. The 911 Principal Production Engineer will also work closely with vendor support on issue resolution, software upgrades, new feature implementation and testing. This position will represent King County on industry working groups and committees developing the future of 911.

Job Duties

  • Serve as Escalation point for issues
  • Evaluate solutions and assess risk
  • Represent the requirements of the King County 911 system to various audiences (Vendors, Project Management, Internal and External stakeholders)
  • Analyze system performance and make recommendations
  • Coordinate Troubleshooting and work with higher Tier or Engineer level vendor support
  • Identify future improvement or initiatives to improve service
  • Work with industry leaders to develop 911 offerings
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support troubleshooting and coordinate off-hour equipment upgrades, which includes 24 hour support if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • 5 years' experience supporting 9-1-1 infrastructure
  • Equivalent experience troubleshooting complex systems AND an understanding of Public Safety Communications systems


Desirable Qualifications
  • Familiarity with database design and reporting
  • Knowledge of API customization
  • Understanding of cloud computing and multi-tenant application administration
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex issues


Other Requirements
  • Successful clearance of criminal background check including fingerprinting and polygraph is required for this position
  • Valid WA State driver's license

Hybrid Work

The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of onsite work and telecommuting. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements . King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support when working remotely.

Work Schedule

The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours to support troubleshooting and coordinate off-hour equipment upgrades, which includes 24 hour support if needed.
