We are recruiting for two positions. These positions are Special Duty Assignments (SDA) or Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions with end dates of May 23, 2023 and October 13, 2023, but subject to change dependent on operational need. This recruitment may also be used to fill future TLT/SDA positions.

WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval. This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117.Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of teleworking complemented with onsite work and meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.

• Create a welcoming environment on the phone and in person to people calling or visiting the Department and connect them to the relevant resources.
• Schedule in-person and virtual meetings and events and provide support, including but not limited to managing calendar schedules, taking and transcribing minutes, setting up equipment, reserving meeting locations, preparing meeting documents, etc.
• Format and proofread memos, letters and complex documents such as contracts, amendments, reports, newsletters, and manuals, using County and Division style guidelines for grammar, punctuation, terminology, abbreviations, font, spacing, tabbing, and alignment throughout. Research to resolve questions/problems.
• Maintain complex electronic and paper files, requiring close attention to detail.
• Establish, maintain, modify, track and/or retrieve information in spreadsheets and customized database applications. Enter, obtain and verify information.
• Handle routine clerical responsibilities such as ordering supplies, distributing and processing mail, copying documents, scanning, faxing and distributing incoming faxes, identifying priority/time-sensitive matters.
• Provide spreadsheet, graphics and desktop publishing support.
• Assist with processing employee expense reimbursements and reconciling purchase card and travel card expenditures.
• Operate and troubleshoot problems with copy machines, fax machines, laptops, projectors, and other equipment.
• Update website pages using Microsoft Sitecore.

• Two years of recent full-time (or the equivalent of two years of full-time) general office
experience providing clerical support.
• Excellent customer service and public relations skills in a diverse work environment.
• One year of recent experience of taking and transcribing meeting minutes.
• Intermediate experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel,
PowerPoint, Publisher, OneDrive and SharePoint.
• Strong writing skills, including proper usage of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Ability to type minimum 50 words per minute.
• Experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Initiative and accountability skills for work product or service.
• Ability to work and make decisions in a team environment, be an effective team member, help co-workers and ask for help appropriately, work with the schedules of other staff, be cooperative and able to compromise and resolve issues with minimal direction, be flexible and work professionally with all levels of staff.
• Ability to prioritize workload, work under pressure with tight timelines and changing priorities, and simultaneously work on multiple assignments.
• Experience working in environments requiring maintaining confidentiality.
• Demonstrated punctuality and dependability in daily attendance.
