Administrative Specialist III for the Child Mortality Prevention Program
- Summary
The Child Mortality Prevention Administrative Specialist III will provide overall administrative support to the Child Mortality Prevention Program, which will include supporting the operations of Child Death Reviews and the implementation of recommendations. This position is situated in the Community Health Services Division within the Parent Child Health Program at Public Health – Seattle & King County.
Public Health – Seattle and King County (PHSKC) is the metropolitan health department serving all of King County. The mission of PHSKC is to eliminate health inequities and maximize opportunities for every person to achieve optimal health. The Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) manages a wide range of programs and services to assist the county's most vulnerable residents. The department maintains a pro-equity focus aimed at developing the systems and standards necessary to achieve better outcomes for all county residents. DCHS and PHSKC jointly administer Best Starts through a cross-departmental approach.
Best Starts for Kids (Best Starts) is King County’s community-driven initiative to support every baby born and child raised in King County to be happy, healthy, safe, and thriving. Initially approved by voters in 2015 and in place since 2016, Best Starts invests in comprehensive supports for children, youth, young adults, and families and caregivers, catalyzing strong starts in early childhood, and sustaining those gains as children progress to adulthood. Best Starts was renewed by voters in August 2021. Implementation of Best Starts is guided by the BSK Implementation Plan, approved by the King County Council in November 2021 for Levy 2022-27.

- Organize and manage the program’s SharePoint page
- Track and organize incoming documents, and compile new cases based on death type, create case lists for each review
- Request records from partners, track inquiries and information, and organize in SharePoint
- Reconcile review participant lists and email lists in Excel, and maintain listservs in Outlook
- Note taking of review discussions, and documentation of participant involvement and confidentiality agreements in reviews
- Tracking recommendations and outcomes in coordination with Program Manager
- Conduct data entry, extraction, review, and database management in national Child Mortality Review database and local Redcap database
- Assist with implementation of recommendations – assist with scheduling meetings, taking notes
- Assist with events – logistics, material development, onsite support
- Assist with presentation development in PowerPoint and other dynamic presentation software
- Assist with community contracts in coordination with Program Manager

Work location: The work for this position will be performed predominantly through telecommuting, but some onsite work may be required, in order to meet program needs. Onsite work will be performed in the field at locations such as the Medical Examiner's Office in Seattle.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.

Work schedule: The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.
