Summary

SUMMARY:
The King County Sheriff's Office (KSCO) has an exciting opportunity for the position of Term-Limited Temporary Administrative Specialist III at our Communications Center. The Communications Center handles a wide range of 911 emergency and non-emergency calls from the community and provides dispatch, information and communication to law enforcement officers.
This position will directly support the recruitment efforts of the Communications Specialists by performing tasks and coordination assistance related to various community outreach programs, including social media resources, assisting with recruiting events and job fairs, and interacting with prospective candidates through the hiring process.
This assignment is benefit-eligible and is expected to last approximately 6-9 months.
WORK LOCATION: King County Sheriff's Office - RCECC, 3511 NE 2nd St., Renton 98056
WORK SCHEDULE: Typical work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, work to be performed in-person at the worksite. This position is overtime eligible with prior supervisor approval.
Job Duties
The Administrative Specialist III performs lead duties and oversight over work that is specialized or technical in nature. The responsibilities and functions of the Term-Limited Temporary Administrative Specialist III classification include but are not limited to the following duties:
1. Provide and/or acquire program-specific information relating to assigned specialized or technical clerical support services that require interpreting established policies, procedures, codes, regulations and other relevant sources to internal and/or external customers over the telephone, in writing and/or in person.
2. Research and summarize specialized or technical information from varied sources. This may require selecting the most appropriate material and the use of spreadsheets and customized database applications.
3. Compose, draft, summarize, prepare, proofread and/or edit documents, and/or correspondence to ensure these conform to the appropriate use of the English language, specialized terminology and established procedures.
4. Provide correspondence and communications related to recruiting and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel; identify priority and time sensitive matters and maintain security and confidentiality.
5. Network with local groups and other agencies, in addition to oversight of the Communications Center social media activities.
6. Collaborate with HR on job postings and recruitment process.
7. Coordinate job fair events and candidate information sessions, process enrollment and registration, coordinate the schedule of events, and seek feedback from attendees and participants.
8. Schedule sit-alongs within the Communications Center and provide updates to the candidate mentors.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
This position requires skill in supporting an operational department/unit with a wide variety of administrative and clerical duties. Required demonstrated qualifications include:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide program-specific information such as rules, regulations and policies; to customers via in-person, telephone, or written communications, including greeting visitors, screening calls, scheduling meetings, directing and responding to public and internal requests.
• Skilled in providing customer service to a diverse population, both citizens and internal employees. Provide professional written communication and excellent customer service in person and over the phone.
• Effectively convey complex information related to rules, regulations and policies verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated proficiency in entering and tracking data; such as; searching, retrieving, logging and filing records from databases, electronic files and hard copy files.
• Writing skills sufficient to compose, edit and maintain a variety of documents, reports and correspondences using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and proofread work carefully.
• Strong initiative and accountability in tracking work assignments, prioritizing workload, adapting to changes and following through on assignments.
• Ability to carry out assignments using standard office equipment such as personal computer, copier, fax, multi-line telephone.
• Detailed oriented with great attention to quality and accuracy to accurately enter and track data, perform and verify mathematical calculations, sort and route mail.
• Good keyboarding skills with experience using MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and database applications or other relevant software.
• Skilled in working independently with minimal guidance.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Confidentiality; skill in working with information that is sensitive in nature.
• Physical requirements: bending, standing and lifting for potential training-related processes

• Must pass thorough background investigation, including a polygraph
• You may need to have a vehicle to be able to drive between work locations.
