- Summary
Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) is seeking a skilled senior administrative professional with a passion for animal welfare. This assignment is anticipated to last up to one year, with potential for extension, prioritizing building and implementing systems to administer Animal Control hearing processes.
You will represent RASKC in administrative hearings and manage hearings end-to-end, working with Animal Control Officers, administrators and the public. Prior experience with animal control is not required, but some knowledge of legal or administrative hearing processes is desirable. We are looking for someone who can:
- Attend and represent RASKC at administrative hearings (Hearing Examiner) and proceedings.
- Establish and document a new, logical system for tracking the Animal Control administrative appeal process end-to-end.
- Prepare written staff reports to the Hearing Examiner within the specified period, working with Animal Control Officers to gather required information.
- Read, interpret and implement ordinances, codes, laws and established policies and procedures
- Manage the flow of Animal Control appeals from beginning to end of the process, including correspondence, filing, and communicating tactfully and courteously with all involved parties.
- Perform research and prepare reports and analysis.
- Assist in policy and procedure development.
- Provide high level administrative support to the Animal Control group, including staff meetings, managing supply and equipment inventories, providing backup phone and email support as directed, and maintaining group tracking logs and systems.

For success in this role, you will at a minimum need to be able to:
- Effectively manage time and work independently with minimal supervision
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to audiences of various social, cultural, ethnic, educational and economic backgrounds
- Establish and maintain effective, productive and cooperative working relationships both inter- and intra- departmental and with other agencies and jurisdictions
- Be highly organized with experience working in systems to track complex projects or processes.
- Exercise sound judgment under hostile and stressful situations and to solve problems in a professional and objective manner. Interact with others with tact and diplomacy.

This assignment is designated non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, meaning it is eligible for overtime with prior supervisor approval. This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 - Administrative.
