Administrator I - Environmental Community Services
- Summary
This is a Special Duty Assignment or Term-Limited Temporary position for 6 to 12 months.
This position provides technical expertise, coordination, assistance, and/or oversight on a broad range of administrative services including well defined and specific administrative services such as personnel, budget, problem solving, program development and administration functions supporting the Environmental Community Services unit, in the Wastewater Treatment Division. This work is performed on an independent basis within established guidelines and procedures.- Job Duties
- Participate in the development, coordination and administrative support of assigned portfolio, programs, or projects for the Wastewater Treatment Division’s Environmental Community Services (ECS) unit.
- Assist in the development and/or revisions to administrative systems within assigned work for the ECS Section; the ECS Unit; and the governance boards, including the Project Oversight Board (POB); the Delivery Board; and the Definition Board.
- Support the ECS teams, including Environmental Planning, Community Services planning, Permitting Real Estate, Permit Monitoring, Industrial Waste, and Education and Engagement.
- Perform administrative functions for scheduling and facilitation of meetings, prioritization workshops and governance boards, including preparing charters, agendas, summary documents, actions items, document routing and electronic signatures for all assigned ECS and work tasks.
- Assist in data collection and analysis for assigned portfolio categories, programs, and projects; prepare summary reports of analysis.
- Assist in the identification and analysis of financial information, including identifying budget and cashflow forecasts, expenditures, and discrepancies.
- Provide information to management and staff on administrative policies and procedures, including project governance, purchasing, travel, fleet, and expense reimbursements.
- Help develop monitoring and tracking systems to support work activities; administer and monitor such systems.
- Represent the work unit, section, division or department on internal committees or task forces as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employee will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team.
Work Location: Primarily teleworking and the King Street Center 201 S. Jackson St., Seattle WA 98104. There will be an expectation to travel to various worksites throughout King and South Snohomish County as needed for your work
Work Schedule: This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible. This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. Monday through Friday.
Union Representation: This position is represented by International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 117, Wastewater Treatment Division, Professional & Technical and Administrative Support bargaining unit. Pursuant to Article 14.4.1 Western Conference of Teamster Pension Trust, Section $1.00 per hour from the base wage will be submitted to the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust Fund.
REQUIRED LICENSES, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that include use of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, calendaring, and data base management software.
- Demonstrated Information-gathering, analysis techniques, and principles for research assignments.
- Financial principles and practices.
- Verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in the proofreading and editing of documents.
- In mathematical calculation.
- In the use of personal computers and work-related software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
