The Front Desk Manager is responsible for supporting administrative needs and operations at the Federal Way Health through Housing Hotel, lodging refugees impacted by the events in Afghanistan, including refugees from other nations whose placement has been impacted by the surge. This position reports to the Site Director.

The Front Desk Manager is part of a team including a Site Director, Front Desk Manager, custodial staff, maintenance staff, Refugee Resettlement Agency Staff and overnight security.

WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: This is a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) or Short-Term Temporary (STT) position anticipated to end December 31, 2021, but subject to change dependent on operational need. This position is scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week. The position will include evening, swing and weekend shifts and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval. The primary worksite will be in Federal Way.

Job Duties

The Front Desk Manager must remain on-site for the duration of their shift (except meal breaks) and is responsible for day-to-day operations of the hotel including: 

 

  • Assign rooms and provide each Guest their own key card to the building.
  • Create name and picture badges for both Guests staying at the Facility and for all visitors.
  • Check all visitors in and out.
  • Distribute initial towels, linens, and personal hygiene supplies to Guests at check-in. 
  • Answer and respond to all phone calls addressed to the Facility within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Work with the Facilities Maintenance/ Facilities Custodial staff and the Refugee Resettlement Agency to promptly respond to Guests’ reasonable requests and inquiries regarding the property.
  • Work with Facilities Maintenance/ Facilities Custodial to identify rooms that need maintenance and troubleshoot support. Document date and time of all issues and resolutions.
  • Serve as King County’s on-the-ground agency contact at the hotel. 
  • Be a liaison to the Refugee Resettlement Agencies to provide a seamless experience for the Guests.  

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practices, and understanding of the effects of place, race and policy and systems-based inequities on marginalized communities and populations.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant job experience.
  • Abilities to work with creativity and flexibility, both independently and as a team member; to work on several tasks simultaneously and to organize and prioritize quickly in response to changing needs. 
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite for daily use of Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint. Basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat. 
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, including understanding and executing complex verbal and written instructions. 
  • Ability to take initiative and be accountable, use independent judgment to accomplish tasks and handle responsibilities while avoiding errors in judgment and discretion.   
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service; work cooperatively with discretion, patience, professionalism, courtesy and tact with everyone (e.g. all levels of staff, guests, and Refugee Resettlement Agencies). 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and utilize good judgement.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License or ability to travel throughout the County in a timely manner.

  • Experience providing customer service support through an interpreter.
