JOB SUMMARY:
King County International Airport (KCIA) is seeking an Airport Plumber! The responsibilities of this classification include maintaining, repairing, modifying, and constructing plumbing, mechanical and structural systems in King County facilities. This position performs journey-level plumbing and mechanical activities, including preventive maintenance, repair and replacement and equipment installation and removal.
ABOUT KING COUNTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KCIA):
KCIA is one of the busiest primary non-hub general aviation airports in the nation. Located just four miles south of downtown Seattle, it averages 200,000 aircraft operations each year. In 2001, it was named by the National Air Transportation Association as one of the "100 Most Needed Airports" in the United States.
KCIA ranks among the most successful public investments in state history. The airport's annual economic impact is $3.5 billion - supporting more than 16,000 jobs and providing $1.8 billion in labor income in the county.
As a general aviation airport, KCIA serves small, commercial passenger airlines, cargo carriers, including UPS, private aircraft owners, helicopters, corporate jets, and military and other aircraft. It is also the final delivery center for the Boeing Company's 737 aircraft and serves as the company's military flight center along with other Boeing operations. The Museum of Flight is located on the airport property with a wide variety of aircraft and exhibits showcasing aviation history. KCIA frequently is host to celebrities and dignitaries, including the President of the United States, who prefer Boeing Field because of its proximity to downtown Seattle and convenient connections to other business districts in the region. Due to its proximity to Lumen Field and T- Mobile Park, and other sports venues, many teams prefer to use KCIA when playing in Seattle.
SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES:
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:
WORK LOCATION: The primary work location for this position is King County International Airport, 6518 Ellis Avenue S, Seattle, WA.
WORK SCHEDULE: 5/8-hour or 4/10-hour shift available during weekdays & on a daytime schedule. Schedules are subject to change. This full-time position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.
This position is mission critical. Overtime work may be required. Alternate shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, as well as extended and/or flex scheduled work hours may be required to meet the operational business needs of the Airport. For all positions during scheduled runway closures or snow and ice operations, there is no scheduled time off.
The work associated with this position will primarily be performed onsite; this is not a telework position. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Job Duties
SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES:
- Plan and develop a preventive maintenance program; perform preventive maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems and system components.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of plumbing and mechanical systems & system components.
- Maintain, repair, and modify fire-protection safety equipment and fire sprinkler systems, lawn sprinkler systems and main-line fans.
- Maintain induction and air handling units; clean and inspect all equipment.
- Maintain refrigeration service.
- Repair and maintain facility's structure; perform minor repairs to building's plumbing, low-voltage electrical systems and door hardware.
- Coordinate maintenance for pool water sanitation and related pool environment equipment.
- Design, size, lay out and install waste, vent, and domestic water distribution systems.
- Mount/install plumbing fixtures, trim and related hardware/accessories.
- Maintain plumbing fixtures from source to local sewer systems.
- Estimate and evaluate plumbing projects.
- Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of plumbing systems.
- Weld or fabricate plates, brackets and pipe.
- Test backflow devices.
- Test heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) & fire sprinkler systems for competency.
- Install, remove, relocate, align and anchor various types of plumbing and mechanical equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:
- Knowledge of installation and maintenance of domestic water, wastewater and vent systems.
- Knowledge of uniform plumbing codes.
- Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
- Knowledge of installation and maintenance of irrigation and fire sprinkler systems, pumping systems and HVAC closed loop systems.
- A team player and collaborator attitude.
- Demonstrated application of safety procedures.
- The ability to respond to on-site safety situations and emergencies.
- The ability to work in a team and independently.
- The ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner via radio.
- The ability to gain additional licenses, certifications and other requirements determined to be necessary to meet the business needs of the airport.
- Plumbing experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position.
- Valid Washington State Plumber's License upon hire.
- Valid Backflow testing license upon hire.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License upon hire.
