King County's Records and Licensing Services (RALS) is searching for a great people leader to serve as Regional Animal Services Assistant Section Manager (Operations Manager - Assistant).
KEY EXPECTATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES - In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties below:
- Plan, administer, coordinate, manage, and supervise the activities and staff of the RASKC section for shelter and field operations.
- Participate in development of section goals and objectives; implement effective measures to meet established goals and objectives.
- Understand and execute incident command as required.
- Represent RASKC on matters being presented before County Departments, public service agencies, community groups and the public.
- Develop policies and procedures; identify areas for revisions for policies and procedures and developing new policies and procedures; assure consistent and accurate application of policies and procedures.
- Identify needs for King County Code Title 11, revisions, address conflicts with other King County and City codes. Act as resource for Cities who want to harmonize their own codes.
- Conduct major incident reviews and oversee criminal investigations. Review and recommend animals for removal. Resolve customer service concerns.
- Recommend adoption promotions and/or programs and implementation. Review behavior and medical concerns and approve euthanasia requests.
- Has a strong background in providing leadership in animal services for a large government agency or jurisdiction OR any combination of education and experience.
- Can manage and thrive in with a large, multi-faceted organization including working collaboratively at all levels.
- Be customer-focused and comfortable in advising with senior management and city/county leaders with complex initiatives, polices, and workplace/labor issues.
- Can persevere and adapt as required, while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Have strategies and ideas to continue to build on a culture of employee engagement which supports the development, coaching, and team building necessary for the workforce of the future.
- Is a champion for Equity & Social Justice. Understands that systematic racism and its long-term effects are pervasive in our society. Are comfortable having candid and sincere conversations with all employees about race and equity in the workplace.
- Can create initiatives necessary to develop, coach, and mentor a culturally and generationally diverse staff in a collaborative manner that focuses on employee engagement, good communication, and team building.
