Assistant Nurse Supervisor for the Isolation and Quarantine facilities

As King County continues to take an aggressive approach to fighting the effects of COVID-19, we are asking for your help. Public Health Center is hiring Assistant Personal Health Services Supervisors (A-PHSS) for the Isolation and Quarantine facilities, a key strategy in King County’s comprehensive response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The IQ sites operate 24/7 to serve a diverse population of children and adults, including people who are experiencing homelessness, recent immigrants and refugees, people with complex behavioral health conditions, and people with limited English proficiency. The scope of care at the I&Q sites includes vitals/symptom monitoring, chronic medical condition monitoring, behavioral health treatment, substance use disorder treatment and supportive management, medication support for chronic conditions, and discharge planning. Nursing care is provided in consultation with the on-call physician and in collaboration with on-site behavioral health providers.
This is a TLT/special duty position that reports to the Isolation & Quarantine Personal Health Services Supervisor (PHSS). This position, based at the Kent site, supervises assigned nursing and medical assistant staff and oversees the clinical operation of the site. This position also provides direct clinical care to individuals who are confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases.

- Support PHSS to schedule staffing resources to meet changing patient census.
- Provide professional and technical support to staff and troubleshoot daily delivery of client care.
- Plan shift assignments and lead shift change report.
- Collaborate with behavioral health supervisor to support integration and coordination of medical and behavioral health care delivery.
- Lead cross-disciplinary provider huddles to ensure care continuity across shift change.
- Support the PHSS and Area Manager in hiring, supervision and evaluation of assigned staff.
- Assist PHSS with onboarding new staff.
- Identify training needs for staff and facilitate staff development.
- Review and use clinical and medical records to assess care quality and fidelity to policy and practice guidelines.
- Assure adherence to infection control guidelines and appropriate PPE use.
- Implement, monitor and evaluate service delivery systems and quality improvement efforts.
- Provide direct patient care to I&Q guests as needed.
- Provide ongoing coach and performance improvement for staff.
- Assess clinical data to provide guests with discharge date and support discharge planning.
- Contribute to development of protocols, policies, or patient materials.

- Demonstrated ability to supervise nursing staff.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments and responsibilities reliably in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner.
- Skill in trauma-informed care and harm reduction.
- Skill in working with diverse populations and cultures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Knowledge of electronic health record (preferably EPIC)
- Knowledge of clinical and theoretical nursing process
- Knowledge of Washington State law relating to nursing care (WAC 18.79)
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and principles
- Knowledge of supervisory techniques and principles
- Knowledge of personal safety techniques and principles
- Skill in leadership and training
- Skill in facilitation and problem-solving
- Skill in time management and organization
- Skill in initiating appropriate emergency response

- Current Washington State Registered Nurse license in good standing.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing science from an accredited school of nursing
- Current Washington State Driver's License or ability to commute to sites within Seattle-King County
- Current CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers
Desired:- Bilingual and/or bicultural
- Two years of clinical experience in adult inpatient or outpatient primary care.
- Two years of experience in a supervisory role
- Experience as a Charge Nurse
- Willing to provide options counseling to pregnant people

Work Schedule: The individuals selected for this position will work 12-hour shifts, night or swing shift. Shift hours may change based on operational needs. This position is eligible for overtime. This posting will be used to fill all needs.
Work Location: The work location for these positions are the Isolation and Quarantine site in Kent, WA but may be redeployed to other sites to meet operational needs.
