In order to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, the King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) in partnership with Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) is operating an isolation and quarantine (I/Q) location in Kent, WA. Isolation and quarantine is a proven public health practice for reducing the spread of disease and is voluntary for individuals choosing to stay at the sites. These positions will be part of a 24 hour on-site multidisciplinary team that offers support to guests and each other.
The I/Q site has a director (DCHS), security guard (Facilities Management Division), and a site manager. There is also an on-site clinical team comprised of nursing, medical assistants/CNAs and behavioral health support staff.
DCHS is seeking reliable individuals to fill several I/Q Behavioral Health positions to support King County's COVID-19 response activities. Behavioral health support staff will be asked to complete guest intake process, lead care coordination and discharge activities, and provide de-escalation and crisis intervention support as needed. The goal is to support the comfort of the guest and to promote their remaining in isolation or quarantine for the time necessary to complete the medically determined period. Daily interventions will be completed telephonically or in-person depending on the guest’s need.

WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: These are Special Duty Assignments (SDA) or Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions anticipated to end June 30, 2022, but subject to change dependent on operational need.
The I/Q site is located at: 1233 Central Ave N, Kent, WA 98032.
Shift times may include:
Dayshift 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Evening shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Nightshift 11:00PM - 7:30 AM
*Mod-Swing Shift: 11:00AM - 7:00PM
These positions are scheduled to work 40 hours per week, work schedules may include days, evenings, nights (graveyard), weekends, and holidays. - Provide behavioral health support to people in isolation and quarantine:
- Conduct daily wellness checks with each guest over the telephone (in-person as needed) to determine guest needs, address concerns and problem solve ways to address issues that arise.
- Intakes: Complete Wellness Plan with each newly arriving guest and co-lead the intake with an RN.
- Discharges: Coordinate, plan and confirm discharge plans. Execute discharge plans with an interdisciplinary team.
- Provide de-escalation and crisis intervention services as needed. Complete Safety Plans to support guests remaining safe while in IQ.
- Lead coordination of care activities:
- Identify and establish working relationships with community resources that provide high quality services to referred guests; Act as liaison between guests and those resources as necessary.
- Offer guests resources and connection to services as needed.
- Collaborate with on-site clinical team, on-site security team and on-site operations team members. Sit in the main workplace area for accessibility and to ease coordinating with other team members.

- Provide behavioral health support to people in isolation and quarantine:
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Either lived or working experience in the behavioral health field.
- Experience forming clinical rapport with individuals with behavioral health disorders.
- Experience with milieu management including de-escalation, crisis management and motivational interventions.
- Must be in good standing with all licensing entities both locally and nationally.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check on a post offer/pre-employment basis.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed Mental Health Professional and/or Substance Use Disorder Counselor.
