These positions will provide curriculum support for Job Readiness Training, support with interns and their weekly paperwork, enrollment into various internships, development of internship sites, as well as supporting our continuing education program's career exploration program (Sprints). All of this will be at (CECO) at Shoreline Community College. CECO is a re-engagement school that serves students who have dropped out of high school and supports them to and through a college education, tuition free. CECO students are disproportionately low income and/or youth of color. These are the same groups that show statistically lower success rates in traditional education and are increasingly under-represented throughout traditional college pathways as well as pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship and internship programs. These positions will support our current effort and success to do that.

WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval. This position is not represented by a union.
MISSION CRITICAL POSITION STATUS: This position has been designated Non-Mission Critical. Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather. TELEWORKING INFORMATION: The work associated with this position will be performed or conducted through a combination of teleworking and onsite work and meetings. Job Duties
- Teach and evolve existing Job Readiness curriculum and implement for individualized, student-centered instruction.
- Development of individualized support for students in internships to include enrollment paperwork, time sheets, etc.
- Develop internship sites both on campus and off campus that are aligned with the values of the program and the goals of the students.
- Work with the College, CECO, to support growing Career exploration programs called Sprints that will include navigating college credits, continuing education and partner agencies.
- Provision of excellent classroom management that respects the needs and different learning styles of students often unfamiliar with academic success. Work with other instructors and staff as a team to provide a consistent, supportive learning environment.
- Administer and track pre- and post-diagnostic tests to students and maintain student records of attendance and educational progress.
- Provide consistent communication regarding employment, internships and expectations to students and CECO team.
- Work in cooperation with program manager, other instructors and other CECO staff to plan and coordinate overall CECO activities and attain non-educational as well as educational goals of the program.
- Work with the program manager and appropriate Shoreline Community College staff to ensure that employment programming provided at CECO meets the requirements of Shoreline Community College.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Experience working with out-of-school students.
- At least 2 years of experience in job development or related field. Education can be substituted for experience.
- 1 year of teaching experience. Education can substitute for experience.
- 1 year of experience teaching Job Readiness or related curriculum.
- Ability to be able to build individual relationships with students quickly.
- Familiarity with the King County, WIOA and DVR, or similar, funding streams as related to Internships.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver goal-oriented results in a timely manner.
- Comfortable in a fast pace, results orientated program and experience developing curriculum.
- Strong ability to engage with students and support them in employment goals.
- Ability to work with and communicate clearly and effectively with individuals of diverse cultural socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with community colleges, WorkSource, juvenile court, parents and funders.
- Ability to work as a team member and have good interpersonal, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in the use of personal computers, with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Possess a valid Washington State driver's license and/or have the ability to travel to various locations throughout King County in a timely manner.
- Ability to pass a Washington State Patrol background check.
