- Defining the County's equity, racial and social justice outcomes with communities most affected by inequities;
- Developing the County's strategies, practices, systems, and processes to achieve equity, racial and social justice outcomes;
- Providing strategic consultation to County agencies, and the communities they serve to achieve equity, racial, and social justice outcomes; and
- Assisting County agencies to fulfill their responsibility to achieve equity, racial and social justice outcomes.
Job Duties
- Provide senior-level leadership, management, coordination and alignment on all issues internal to the OERSJ, including but not limited to personnel, budget, project management, internal procedures and communications.
- As a member of OERSJ's Senior Leadership Team, provide leadership to various functions undertaken by OERSJ and represent the Director, Deputy, and the Office in various venues.
- Ensure the effective supervision, coaching, mentorship and development of all staff and provide day-to-day supervision and servant leadership support to staff responsible for administration, communications and other specific functions.
- Direct & support the development of effective work plans. Identify and implement standard work processes for OERSJ through the development of work tracking and reporting standards and processes.
- Manage the development of an internal and external communications strategy for OERSJ through the supervision of OERSJ's Strategic Communications Manager, along with other team members.
- Manage and supervise the internal and external flow and exchange of information, in partnership with the OERSJ team identify methods to streamline daily operations, and track miscellaneous projects and ongoing responsibilities.
- Identify and manage critical issues that have public and/or internal impact and require the attention of the Director, Deputy, and/or other OERSJ managers. Drive initiatives and/or projects on behalf of the Director and the Office.
- On behalf of the Director and Deputy, convene and coordinate development of policies and approaches on a variety of issues with the OERSJ's senior leadership team and other internal and external partners.
- Provide day-to-day management of the OERSJ budget, including, but not limited to, working with PSB analysts to provide timely budget and staffing reports to OERSJ senior leadership.
- In coordination with the OERSJ team, ensure that the Director is well prepared and in possession of high-quality materials and data required for meetings, conferences, and other scheduled internal and/or public events.
- Represent the Director and Deputy on interdepartmental workgroups and other forums.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience staffing and advising executive leaders
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and strategic analysis
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience supervising employees and/or directing the work of others
- Demonstrated ability to direct work of multi-disciplinary staff and teams
- Experience in designing and implementing systems and processes to ensure and sustain operational excellence
- Demonstrated broad and in-depth knowledge of equity, racial, and social justice issues for organizations and communities
- Experience working with people who are racially/ethnically diverse, gender diverse, have disabilities, and/or come from other diverse communities and life experiences
- Skilled at public speaking and meeting facilitation
- Excellent organizational skills including ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
