- King County District Court ProfileKCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 200,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail-alternative programs, technology- and judge-managed probation services. Twelve cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC.Position SummaryKing County District Court is expanding court services to include access to the judiciary through implementation of a Community Court system by hiring a Community Court Coordinator located out of our Shoreline Courthouse. The Community Court Coordinator will be the lead planner responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Community Court services that occur within the District Courthouse in Shoreline, WA.The Community Court Coordinator will be expected to become acquainted with agency, County, State, and court policies, procedures, and regulations. The successful candidate must be able to effectively partner with community stakeholders to promote District Court and Community Court.
- Job Duties
- Serve on multiple planning work groups
- Identify and coordinate social service agencies to participate in community court resource center.
- Coordinate with treatment providers to track and report on community court participants.
- Coordinate with non-profit agencies to connect court participants with community service opportunities.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve with respect to the court's daily activities and operations. Coordinate with facilities in which court is held.
- Coordinate service and treatment needs assessments for defendants and other court populations;
- Coordinate screening intake services and complete exit interviews;
- Promote, develop, and maintain relationships with residents, schools, police, government, not-for-profit agencies, and community organizations;
- Work with providers of court participants to obtain updated progress reports to the court.
- Maintain accurate data about the program and its participants for formal reporting to various agencies, and for presentations for stakeholders and interested parties.
- Work with judge and project staff to develop both new policies and procedures, and new social services sanctions and responses
- Coordinate community outreach efforts.
- Recruit and manage a team of volunteers for community court.
- Speak/present to individuals, agencies and groups about community court.
- Coordinate efforts of court, Community Court unit, and social service providers to maximize effectiveness of court operations, sentences, and compliance monitoring; and
- Perform related work as required.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in social work, public policy or a related field, three years work experience in the court system, and at least one year of policy development and/or project management experience.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the criminal justice system;
- Knowledge of city and county agencies and community-based organizations including local social services;
- Ability to plan, to delegate, and to coordinate work;
- Ability to identify needs, to develop long-range plans, and to evaluate results;
- Knowledge of problem-solving court models and case-management approaches;
- Demonstrated ability to clearly express and present ideas and recommendations orally and in writing to a wide audience including stakeholders;
- Ability to effectively work with people with differing cultural, ethnic, and lifestyle backgrounds;
- Willingness and ability to accept assignments in various office locations throughout the county;
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others including co-workers, supervisors, judges, and staff members from public and private agencies;
- Ability to maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance; and
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including a personal computer.
- If a people manager, this bullet is second on the list of EQKS: Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible management experience, including planning, delegating and coordinating work.

The vision abilities required to perform this position include close vision.
- Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers, printers, light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
- Work schedule: Regular, working a 40-hour workweek. Responsibilities occasionally may require overtime in order to meet deadlines. After hours, on-call support is required.
- Work location: Some in-person work needed on-site in the Shoreline Courthouse located at 18050 Meridian Ave N, Shoreline, WA 98133, while most of the work is done virtually currently in response to COVID.
