Community Health Worker Training and Technical Assistance Manager (Project/Program Manager II) CDIP
- Summary
This position is to support the implementation of CDC funded grant to enhance CHW training, deployment, and engagement to principally address COVID-19 and the social determinants of health in BIPOC communities. This work will be done largely through partnerships community based and health care organizations, the Washington Department of Health, and other units within Public Health. In addition, the position will support the overall organization and processes for the Public Health Community Health Worker unit.

- Serve as project manager for a complex federally funded grant that aims to strengthen and expand the Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce in King County.
- Lead a team of CHWs who are with local community based and health care organizations to develop and implement training on the local COVID-19 response and issues related to high-risk populations including underlying conditions, social determinants of health, local resources, and strategies to reach special populations.
- Lead operations team of Public Health staff, which includes defining processes and procedures for contracting with, monitoring, and paying partners; setting and managing processes for project coordination; and reporting project deliverables to funder.
- Collaborate with Project Director to develop scopes of work for and monitor work of contracted partners.
- Provide technical assistance to small, emerging organizations with community health worker programs and / or link them to other sources of support.
- Staff communications, evaluation, and governance teams including arranging meeting times, taking notes, and tracking tasks.
- Coordinate support of CHWs that serve King County residents to participate in the Washington Department of Health training.
- Assist with initial drafting of materials for presentations as assigned, including organizing slide decks, updating slides, and drafting handouts.
- Support overall operations of CHW unit including organizing resources and materials, drafting proposals, and promoting the program.
- Conduct research on assigned topics, including synthesizing literature and to inform policy and project options.

- Demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice.
- Expertise in developing and conducting training.
- Expertise with community-driven planning, implementation, and participatory evaluation of projects, programs and services, including experience in health equity projects to improve community health and well-being.
- Expert use of project management approaches, visual management tools, process improvement, and ability to work efficiently under deadlines to organize and prioritize work quickly in response to changing needs. Strong analytic, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Strong skills in managing up and across.
- Strong expertise with synthesizing and communicating technical information in writing, orally, and visually to a variety of audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skills in writing and editing information in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated experience with research, production of written reports and/or communication products. Skilled in producing accurate reports, fact sheets and education materials, with clarity and high proficiency.
- History of working collaboratively in a team environment with a variety of multi-disciplinary partners. Convene and/or collaborate in community coalitions and partnerships; work tactfully and diplomatically using strong listening skills with diverse groups, including people from a variety of racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Bachelor's degree and minimum four years of experience in training, project planning, and management OR any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position.
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in a social or health science, e.g. public health, anthropology, sociology, psychology or a closely related public health field
- Expertise with learning management systems and online trainings.
- Facility with maintaining or building SharePoint sites, DropBox, or other platforms for sharing information.
- Expertise with managing multiple contracts in compliance with federal and local regulations (such as passing audits of records related to project’s use of funding).
- Subject matter expertise in one or more of these practice and policy areas: community health workers, economic development, social determinants of health, and/or public health.

Work Schedule
This position is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. The normal workweek is 40 hours, Monday – Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required.
Work Location:The home base for this position is Chinook Building located in Downtown Seattle, Chinook Building, 401 5th Ave., Seattle.
Telecommuting
Some work associated with this position will be performed through teleworking with reporting to office location, and meetings as needed. Employee is expected to report in the office when the Covd-19 restrictions are lifted. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
