Community Vaccination Event Coordinators - Project/Program Manager I
- Summary
Public Health–Seattle & King County’s Community Vaccination Team has an exciting opportunity for 2-5 Project/Program Managers to support the department’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts by serving as Community Vaccination Event Coordinators. Community Vaccination Event Coordinators will work directly with community and healthcare partners to manage key planning, logistical, and operational functions of Community Vaccination Events. This position will report to the Community Vaccination Events Program Manager.
ABOUT COMMUNITY VACCINATION EVENTS:
Community Vaccination Events play an important part in King County’s COVID-19 vaccine delivery strategy and are critical to expanding vaccine access to prioritized and underserved populations. Community Vaccination Events take place at easily accessible and familiar locations and are a partnership between vaccine providers, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, employers, and businesses, to provide COVID-19 vaccine in a way that best meets the needs of the community. Many communities experience barriers to accessing vaccine at primary care providers or high-volume vaccination sites, and Community Vaccination Events leverage partners’ expertise, relationships, and resources to provide vaccine to those populations who need it the most.

- Coordinate with community partners and vaccine providers (i.e., healthcare partners) to ensure that events are successful, patient-centered, and meet the needs/requirements of all of groups involved;
- Work directly with community partners to understand their unique needs and preferences for events. Clearly communicate expectations, vaccine provider capacity, operational practices of COVID-19 vaccine clinics, and other relevant information;
- Maintain situational awareness of current eligibility guidelines, COVID-19 vaccine provider requirements, and internal and external resources available for Community Vaccination Events;
- Work with all partners to ensure that events are conducted safely and meet state Department of Health/local Public Health requirements for COVID-19 vaccination;
- Work with all partners to ensure that events have adequate staff and supplies and meet community needs in a way that fosters trust between the community partner, the vaccine provider, and Public Health;
- Monitor planning progress, keep track of event details, and document key data points;
- Serve as the main point of contact for assigned Community Vaccination Events, both within Public Health and for partners;
- Provide on-site logistical and operational support on the day of events by responding to emergent logistical needs and managing volunteers as needed;
- Escalate issues to others in the Community Vaccination Team when additional support is needed;
- Work with community partners and Public Health finance to ensure that partner efforts are being documented for reimbursement purposes; ensure that partners are reimbursed within a timely manner;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the duties described will be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to practice cultural humility, a deep commitment to equity and social justice, and experience engaging historically underserved people or communities in decision making;
- Ability to manage ambiguity and practice flexibility to adapt to changing tasks, work environments, or schedules;
- Strong communication and customer service skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex information to different audiences with varying levels of background knowledge;
- Skill and experience in strategic thinking, planning, and executing projects from vision through implementation;
- Demonstrated good judgment and comfort in making independent decisions, while also understanding limitations and knowing when to ask for additional support;
- Comfortable delegating tasks and directing the work of others;
- Able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment to achieve goals;
- Prior experience working with and/or lived experience within BIPOC or other underserved communities;
- Proficient computer and typing skills including advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; specifically: Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Ability to travel to and from Community Vaccination Event sites across King County on a regular basis.
WE WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE- Knowledge of public health terminology or demonstrated ability and experience learning other professional terminology;
- Familiarity with current King County COVID-19 response strategies;
- Knowledge and experience with community-centered event planning;
- Bi- or multi-lingual proficiency or fluency;
- Experience in interpreting and adapting guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), WA Department of Health (DOH), or Public Health–Seattle & King County.

Temporary Telecommuting Requirement
Some of the work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021, in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.

The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team. This full-time Term-Limited Temporary position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants. Eligible internal candidates may apply for this role as a Special Duty Assignment. To be considered for Special Duty, you must be a current Career Service King County employee who has successfully passed probation. The duration of these opportunities is expected to last 6 months. Extensions may be likely given the evolving circumstances in the response to COVID-19.

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position and is eligible for overtime. The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am–5pm, but some evening and weekend work will be required.
