The Community Well-Being Program Manager (PPM III) position will support the Community Well-Being group in Public Health’s COVID19 response. The Community Well-Being group seeks to promote emotional health in our communities and in the County’s COVID19 response, centering BIPOC people who are most impacted by the intersecting crises of racism and the pandemic. We are responding to the emotional impacts of the pandemic by:- Validating and accepting emotional and psychological impacts of the pandemic in the context of systems that can cause harm
- Addressing stigma associated with mental health
- Promoting compassion, care, and connection in our communities
- Promoting accessible, just, and equitable emotional health supports
- Sharing a variety of resources that center our communities and their lived experiences.

Who May Apply: This Special Duty or Term Limited Temporary position is open to all qualified applicants. To be considered for the SD, you must be a current Career Service King County employee who has successfully passed probation. The duration of these opportunities is expected to last 6 months . Extensions may be likely to accommodate evolving circumstances in the response to COVID-19.
Work Schedule and Location: This position is full-time and exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime-eligible. Some weekends and evening work is required, and some local travel may be required. Workdays and hours will be determined at time of hire, may vary based on business needs, and may include some evening and weekend hours. This position requires flexibility to accommodate different work schedules and work locations. Regular remote work may be required, Public Health will provide the new hires with a computer laptop, however, other tools necessary to successfully work remotely will not be provided. You will need to have sufficient equipment and an internet connection to work remotely. Home site is King County Chinook Building located at 401 5th Ave. Seattle WA 98104
- Job Duties
- Develop and implement innovative community-centered approaches to promoting emotional well-being and mental health in communities most impacted by the public health crises of COVID19 and racism
- Cultivate and sustain relationships with community partners supporting emotional health and well-being, and lead partnership activities including events, communications, and resource sharing
- Lead Well-Being Messenger program to ensure culturally responsive and relevant information and resource sharing related to emotional health and well-being; including recruitment, training, learning collaborative, and ongoing support for the work of the Messengers
- Lead Community Well-Being Task Force, including creating agendas, facilitating meetings, and ensuring effective communication with Task Force members
- Manage and oversee program budgets, contractual agreements and resources;
- Seek and apply for new funding opportunities as appropriate;
- Liaise with King County COVID19 Community Mitigation & Recovery efforts, as well as other County programs related to community mental health and well-being
- Represent Public Health with internal and external partners, including community stakeholders
- Provide back-up coverage and/or support other bodies of work within the Community Well-Being group
- Collaborate with a diverse cross departmental and multidisciplinary team to support the emotional well-being and mental health of communities most impacted by the public health crises of racism and COVID19, including participation in team meetings and development of strategy, systems and processes
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Deep knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practices, and understanding of the effects of place, race and policy and systems-based inequities on communities and populations.
- Interest in and/or professional or personal experience in promoting behavioral health and emotional well-being particularly in communities most impacted by the public health crises of racism & COVID19
- A combination of at least six years of education and experience within mental health, public health, community empowerment, and/or other related fields with emphasis on promoting emotional well-being in communities, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Experience supporting new programs in design, development, or implementation phases and/or continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Experience and skills with engaging and convening partners from different sectors to cultivate knowledge sharing and community capacity building.
- Skills and abilities working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders including families, culturally specific and community based groups, service providers, and co-workers.
- Ability to work with creativity and flexibility, both independently and as a team member.
- Ability to work under deadlines, work on a number of tasks simultaneously, and organize and prioritize work quickly in response to changing needs.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and projects under a rapidly changing environment, with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively in this environment;

- Awareness and knowledge of resources in King County related to mental health and emotional well-being
- Deep understanding of intersectionality and how it impacts BIPOC communities and their emotional well-being

Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
