Summary
The Department of Local Services, Road Services Division is seeking an intern to join our Program and Project Support Services Unit. Our diverse team provides project support to all aspects of the King County Road Services Division, from project conception to project close out. Our work includes contract management, roadway inventory data management, road facility reviews and monitoring for new development, project control, and compliance reporting.

As the largest division within the Department of Local Services, Road Services Division is responsible for 1,500 miles of roads, 185 bridges, 5.7 million feet of drainage ditches, and other related infrastructure in unincorporated King County. Our work directly supports a wide range of capital projects that provide responsive and effective support to residents and businesses.
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will use their training in civil engineering, construction management, public administration, or closely related fields to contribute to the successful operations of the Road Services Division.

Who is Eligible
This position is open to undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled full time, and continuing in the fall of 2023 from an accredited institution. Must provide proof on enrollment upon hire, and for each quarter or semester during the regular school year. Current students in civil engineering, construction management, public administration, or closely related fields are encouraged to apply.

Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of teleworking complemented with onsite work and meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. The individual in this position will be meeting with community members and organizations and will be expected to engage in face-to-face interactions, throughout unincorporated King County.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

- Develop skills in research, analysis, technical writing and documentation, task coordination, and teamwork
- Support development of contract administration guidelines and SharePoint site resource for project managers and teams
- Participate in the documentation of standards and processes for the Program and Project Support Services group
- Collaborate with team members regularly to support and maintain communication hubs via SharePoint and MS Teams
- Leverage existing technologies and tools to enhance data management and analysis

- Intern II - Undergraduate pay range is $19.33 to $24.50/hourly
- Intern III - Graduate pay range is $21.76 to $27.58/hourly
