THIS POSITION IS OPEN ONLY TO EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES, WHO ARE CURRENTLY ON THE KING COUNTY PAYROLL.
The responsibilities of this position include performing work in support of multiple divisions within the Court Operations Department. The incumbent will provide staff coverage to ensure continuity of operations in the Jury, Interpreter Services, Criminal and Ex-Parte departments. The incumbent enters data into software programs; maintains, tracks, monitors, researches, and updates cases. Duties require the incumbent to interact with judicial officers, internal and external customers.
Work location: The primary work location for this position is at the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle. The incumbent may be required to work at other facilities as assigned. Applications may be placed on an eligibility list for future recruitments.
Work schedule and terms: This is a full-time position working a 35-hour work week. This position is FLSA non-exempt (hourly) and overtime-eligible. The work week is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Variations in these hours may occur. Please note that during the 2021-2022 biennium, King County Superior Court employees are required to take up to five (5) furlough days in each year. However, the number and frequency are being assessed based on changing budget information, and is currently suspended temporarily.

The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level: - Provide coverage to ensure continuity of operations in the Jury Division by sending summons, checking in jurors, providing estimations of juror needs and other higher-level duties.
- Provide coverage to Criminal Division to include assistance in processing criminal court orders which must be timely entered into KCMS.
- Provide coverage in Ex-Parte Division, including staffing Guardianship review calendars, which requires advance review of scheduled cases in ECR and SCOMIS, preparation of review orders, sending reminder letters to parties, responding to phone and email inquiries and assisting customers who appear at the review calendar hearings. The incumbent will assist the Ex-Parte judge and commissioners as needed when covering in the department.
- Provide coverage to ensure continuity of operations in the Office of Interpreter Services (OIS), including coordination of interpreter scheduling through KCMS, and providing in person, by phone, and email customer service to OIS stakeholders. In addition, this position will be called upon to assist with higher-level projects as needed.

- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), and three to five years' experience in court procedures and processes, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position, are required.
The incumbent in this position must be able to quickly adapt to changing assignments and is expected to be well versed in each area covered. Must be able to maintain predictable and reliable attendance. Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently preferred.- Supplemental Information
Necessary special requirements: The ability to reliably travel throughout the county is required. Finalists are subject to the Washington State Patrol criminal background check and a reference check. Criminal background records are not automatically disqualifying.
