We are seeking a court clerk supervisor who is a skilled, innovative, self-motivated and customer-focused leader. This supervisor must be able to build and maintain confident and competent team members that provide first-class services to the people we serve.

Duration: This special duty position is expected last approximately six months or less
Work Location: This position will work at both the King County Courthouse located at 516 3rd Ave. Seattle, WA and the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center, 401 4th Ave N., Room 2C, Kent, WA and may occasionally perform duties at the Juvenile Clerk's Office located at 1211 East Alder St., Seattle, WA
Work Schedule: The usual schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates are required to be available to work additional hours, which may include evenings and weekends, as needed to respond to service needs. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime eligible.

- Job Duties
Some day-to-day activities for this role:
- Oversee all courtroom processes and procedures. Develop, review and update policies and procedures as needed.
- Monitor and review all aspects of courtroom clerk duties: minutes and exhibit handling.
- Lead and coordinate all courtroom training efforts for all departmental in-court staff.
- Schedule court clerks for all King County Superior Court courtrooms
- Identifying gaps in process to effectively make improvements; including meeting deadlines.
- Answer questions/inquiries from judges, bailiffs and other court personnel from both, Seattle and Kent locations.
- Develop, review and update policies and procedures that meet judicial and legislative standards.
- Effectively work and collaborate with the division manager and the rest of the management team.
- Implement short and long term plans and objectives as directed.
- Perform and develop training, measures of success, hiring, and implementing disciplinary actions.
- Supervise, lead, and coach a team of about 15-20 employees.
Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to in-court staff and take initiative to effectively solve issues related to courtroom procedures. Establish innovative, forward thinking processes and programs to improve the service delivery for the people we serve. Solve complex problems and situations with effective solutions and ideas.
Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of the section by establishing work priorities, reviewing and evaluating work, providing policy direction and guidance to staff. Have great multitasking and organizational skills, meet deadlines. Monitor section tasks and implement internal control procedures. Oversee and manage scheduling and proper section coverage.
Personnel Management: Supervise, hire, train, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary, and multi-ethnic staff in a fast paced environment. Evaluate and provide feedback about employee performance and foster employee professional development. Maintain a positive and productive work environment. Must possess effective conflict management skills. Solve complex problems with effective solutions and ideas.
Customer Focus: Ensue the section provide first-class services to our customers.
Communication: Analyze and evaluate concerns in a timely manner. Provide clear direction for staff response. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to the courtroom team; management, and internal and external customers.
Research and Reports: Understand, research, monitor, and/or implement state, federal, local rules and regulations, as well as King County's and the department's policies and procedures. Find appropriate resources and analyze technical information accurately. Create reports and documents for staff at various levels throughout the organization.
Relationships: Effective team player and collaborative supervisor who works with a goal to resolve issues that impact staff, court and peer relationships. Develop positive working relationships with coworkers, employees, and the leadership team.

Must have knowledge of:- Court procedures and legal terminology.
- Judicial system and court environment setting.

- The Department of Judicial Administration role, theories, services, and practices.
- Equity and social justice principles.
- Technology: utilizing all Microsoft products, case management systems, and state and federally regulated programs.
- Policy and Procedures: strong understanding of Washington RCW's, rules, statues, and federal regulations. Develop streamlined policies and procedures align with legislative updates
- Reports: generating and developing reports and statistics. Analyze technical information accurately.
- Communication and Interpersonal: strong organizational, written and verbal skills. Building positive working relationships with elected and non-elected officials.
- Leadership: providing strong and effective leadership by fostering a positive work environment, engaging with employees, and generating enthusiasm and commitment to the department's mission

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year college degree in public administration, or related filed, plus two years of supervisory/lead paid work experience in customer related duties. Education and work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis (or) any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
