King County Superior Court is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Criminal Calendar Technician II. The Court is one of the nation's largest trial courts, serving the country's 12th most populous county. Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, King County Superior Court is nationally recognized for innovation. The court's mission is to serve the public by ensuring justice through accessible and effective forums for the fair, understandable, and timely resolution of legal matters.
The position is responsible for scheduling and monitoring a high-volume criminal case at various stages (emphasis may be on plea/sentencing or on pre-trials/trials). Duties frequently require the incumbent to dialogue and coordinate with the Chief Criminal Division, the public, judicial officers, staff, attorneys, and inter-county and outside agencies.

Work location: This position is primarily located in the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle. The incumbent may also be required to work at other Superior Court locations, including the Maleng Regional Justice Center (MRJC), located in Kent, Washington.
Work schedule and terms: This position is hourly (overtime-eligible) and subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is a full-time position working a 35-hour workweek. The workweek is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Variations from these hours may occur based on the needs of the court.

The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level.
Perform high-volume case flow management activities. Assess priority and monitor the status of cases. Make assignments and coordinate various parties, including the court, attorneys, jail, staff, litigants and interpreters. May schedule criminal court dates by determining speedy trial compliance and sentencing, as well as attorney, client and court availability. May confer with judges on matters pertaining to the status of court calendars.
Perform operational support and coordinating activities for criminal court calendars, monitoring compliance with local rules and procedures, preparing legal documents and reviewing pleadings. Ensure compliance with Criminal Department policies and procedures by all parties.
Assist litigants and attorneys by providing and transmitting information and criminal forms to comply with court policies; and follow up with responsive or remedial action where required.
Respond to inquiries from judges, commissioners, attorneys and the general public regarding case information, rules, policies and procedures. Provide information to the public, and screen requests for contact with judicial officers.
Perform other duties of a similar nature and level.
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); and three to five years' experience in court procedures and processes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Court or legal office experience is preferred. Knowledge of criminal statutes and terminology, court and Criminal Department system, procedures and processes, and application of court rules; the court system, including roles and responsibilities of court departments and related agencies, key players, and case flow.
Special requirements: The ability to reliably travel throughout the County is required. Finalists are subject to the Washington State Patrol criminal background check and a reference check. Criminal background records are not automatically disqualifying.
Selection process: Application materials will be screened for qualifications and the most competitive candidates will be invited for interviews.
