SPECIAL DUTY OPPORTUNITY
The Security Management’s ID Access Office in Facilities Management Division (FMD) is looking to backfill their Customer Service Specialist III position. This position is responsible for processing employee ID/bus pass/key card requests, replacements, and returns.
The duration of the special duty assignment is approved for up to four (4) months, and may be extended if necessary, to meet operational needs.

Responding to customer requests via email, phones, and in-person
Reviewing forms for completeness, including authorized signatures if necessary
Printing and distributing key cards
Managing data entry
Deactivating lost or stolen cards, and processing returned key cards for terminated employees
Acting as point of contact for security section work orders
Managing the temporary-badge inventory
Providing administrative support services as needed
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Office experience working directly with the public.
Experience in customer service via telephone and in-person with the ability to demonstrate discretion, patience, etiquette, and professionalism.
Problem solving skills and experience in handling critical, time-sensitive, and emergency situations.
Knowledge of rules, regulations, codes, laws, policies, procedures, and ordinances pertaining to work assignments.
Intermediate to advanced skills in the use of a variety of Windows-based computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Exchange, and Outlook.
Ability to use PeopleSoft to record time and assist supervisors, with recording and auditing time for staff.
Experience with action tracking on specific work assignments and other related items.
Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Knowledge of office practices, procedure, and functions.
Skill in prioritizing workload and adapting to changes in workload demand.
Skill in conducting research on a specific work assignment.
Skill and understanding of maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive matters and documents.

This Special Duty Opportunity is being offered to King County employees who have passed their initial probationary period only.

What will happen if selected?Security Section management will work together with the selected candidate to identify strengths and opportunities for development and layout clear expectations for the assignment.
Training opportunities will be provided, as well as stretch assignments designed to develop or enhance the employee's skills.
Additional position information:
This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.
The Security Management Section operates on a 24/7 schedule, with a 40 hours per week standard schedule.
