The Office of the Executive is seeking candidates to support King County government, unincorporated King County, and the cities within King County as the Economic Recovery Project Manager. About The PositionKing County seeks an Economic Recovery Project Manager to support both the Economic Development and Recovery Director and the Creative Economy and Recovery Director in rebuilding an anti-racist, equitable, resilient, and sustainable regional economy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service and helping our local businesses and other employers recover from the simultaneous public health, economic, and social justice pandemics. The economic fallout from these crises will be long-lasting and change our region forever. It has disproportionately affected Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities, women, and workers with lower levels of educational attainment. While these are very difficult times for many people, we are seeing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to rebuild better. King County’s economic recovery strategic plan seizes upon these opportunities while honoring King County’s True North of making our county a welcoming community where every person can thrive.
Beyond supporting the economic recovery response, this position holds various responsibilities for supporting King County government's regional economic and workforce development strategic plan, as well as creative economy recovery. This strategy entails collaboration with King County leadership, regional economic and workforce development agencies, business and industry organizations, community stakeholders, labor organizations, King County's 39 cities, and the State of Washington.
The position will report to the Director of Economic Development and Recovery and the Director of Creative Economy and Recovery.- Job Duties
- Provide various project management roles for both the Economic Development and Recovery Director and the Creative Economy and Recovery Director
- Coordinate scheduling and attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Capture meeting minutes at internal and external meetings
- Provide scheduling support for both of the economic development directors
- Support, develop, and refine various economic recovery communication strategies, including but not limited to social media, newsletters, presentations, and webinars.
- Develop systems that streamline economic development and recovery work
- Represent the County in fielding inquiries from businesses about reopening guidelines, COVID-19 safety, etc.
- Assist in tracking the County’s workforce and economic recovery progress and assist in communicating internally and externally
- Assist in ensuring the County’s economic recovery strategy is informed by and aligned with the regional economic recovery strategy
- Identify and vet new and existing resources for reopening local businesses
- Assist with budget development and monitoring.

- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Self-driven and reliable, demonstrating initiative to work under pressure to meet deadlines, with demonstrated ability to drive results.
- Have the ability to flex and adapt as required, quickly learn governmental finance/accounting processes, and manage multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess prior public sector experience, preferably in economic and/or workforce development
- Have proven interpersonal skills with a customer focus, maintaining professional working relationships with a wide, broad, and diverse community of stakeholders.

This position is subject to final budget approval from the King County Council and is offered for 12 months. It is possible that the position may be extended based on funding and need.
