King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KCIA) has an excellent opportunity for an Electrician! The Electrician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible in performing journey-level maintenance and installing electrical and electronic systems and hardware.
SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES: The successful candidate, at a minimum, will demonstrate skill or ability to:

  • Troubleshoot and assess electrical power, lighting, control and equipment to determine cause of electrical and equipment failure;
  • Repair damaged electrical equipment, conduit and conductors;
  • Install electrical systems in new construction;
  • Install, modify and upgrade new and existing electrical systems, component parts and other related electrical equipment;
  • Evaluate existing equipment, provide recommendations for future electrical needs and anticipate costs;
  • Maintain current equipment with preventive maintenance measures. Perform visual inspection and conduct cleaning including motors, motor control centers and programmable controllers;
  • Maintain electronic door security controls, intercom and paging systems, fans, pumps and their motor control equipment, digital card reader systems, parking gates and roll-up doors, motion sensors, door monitoring systems;
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair power distribution systems including but not limited to lighting distribution and low-voltage switching, power distribution panels and circuits, emergency generator and related heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and power transfer switches.
  • Have knowledge of electrical theory and basic electronic theory
  • Have knowledge of federal, Washington State and local electrical codes
  • Have knowledge of electrical tools, materials, instruments, and test equipment 
  • Understand the Occupational Safety and Health Act
  • Have experience reading blueprints and schematics
  • Have experience in reading and interpreting instrumentation
  • Have experience in installing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems and equipment
  • Have airfield experience or relevant equivalent experience
  • Have experience in technical reading and writing skills
  • Are comfortable using computers, email, and office software in daily work (The County uses Microsoft Office including Outlook, Teams, Word)
Work Schedule:
Typical schedule will be 5/8hr or 4/10hr days that may include a Saturday or Sunday. Schedules are subject to change. This full-time position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Overtime work may be required. Alternate shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, as well as extended and/or flex scheduled work hours may be required to meet the operational business needs of the Airport. For all positions during scheduled runway closures, there is no scheduled time off. 
Union Membership: This position is represented by JCC L46-Electricians.


  • Washington State Driver’s License
  • Washington State Journey Electrician certificate or equivalent per RCW 19.28.191
  • Additional licenses, certifications and other requirements determined to be necessary to meet the business needs of the employing unit may be required. 
Final appointment is contingent upon successfully passing a thorough federal and county background investigation and clearing a pre-employment physical examination.
