Summary
King County's Office of Emergency Management is looking for Emergency Management Training Program Instructors to join our team. Positions are responsible for providing inter-agency, inter-jurisdictional, and multi-disciplinary emergency management training on behalf of King County OEM. The instructional curriculum primarily consists of Incident Command System (ICS) courses (e.g., ICS 300, ICS 400) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)-sponsored/developed "G" courses.
CURRENT POSITIONS - this recruitment is for multiple Short-Term Temporary positions. The successful candidates will be expected to be available on an as needed basis.

- Instruct G-level (state-delivered), ICS, Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP), and/or ICS All-Hazard Position-Specific courses designed for adult learners, including facilitation of small work groups.
- Provide excellent interpersonal communication.
- Maintain instructional standards, including length and conduct of the course, and any activities and exercises; protect the integrity of course curriculum; maintain accountability of students.
- Manage other support, adjunct, and unit instructors; proctor exams; ensure safety protocols are followed.
Are certified by the Washington State Emergency Management Division (EMD) as a:
- Washington State Field Course Certified Instructor,
- Washington State Certified ICS Instructor,
- Washington State Certified Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) Instructor, or
- FEMA NIMS ICS All-Hazard Position-Specific Course Instructor
Have a background and knowledge of current emergency management principles and practices; OR any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the skill and ability to perform the job duties:
- Have a track record of developing and maintaining working relationships with a variety of constituents and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Are flexible and can adapt as required, while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Are comfortable and proficient with the use of office productivity tools in daily work (the County uses Microsoft Office, and other online collaboration tools).
