You will be involved with:
- Representing the Division in negotiations for Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Leading and guiding employee investigations
- Advising managers and supervisors handling critical employee matters
- Training opportunities in both labor and employment field to develop as an employee.
- Steer yourself into a variety of Division/County roles (i.e. Labor Negotiator, County Manager and Supervisor positions) as your work will have visibility and intersectionality with many other classifications.
- Serve as a representative of the Division/Department in bargaining with the labor unions
- Advise and guide on employee investigations and related discipline
- Advise, guide, and serve as the process owner on union grievances
- Interpret and provide guidance on matters involving collective bargaining agreements
- Advise and guide managers and supervisors on handling sensitive employee matters including performance issues

- Demonstrated strong written communication skills.
- Proficiency in commonly used MS Office applications.
- Proven ability to handle highly confidential, sensitive, and potentially litigious issues.
- Knowledge of human resources and change management.
- Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
- A strong and proven commitment to the principles of equity and social justice.
- Demonstrated analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience coordinating with others and working independently in a remote environment, including coordinating, hosting, and participating in Microsoft Teams and Zoom meetings.
- Public sector experience and experience with large, unionized organizations.
Working Conditions:
- Telecommuting Requirement: The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
- Work Schedule: This position works a 40 hour work week; 5x8- Mon.-Fri., business hours.
- FLSA Status: This position is not overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is non-represented.
