Epidemiologist I - Ending the HIV Epidemic Grant
- Summary
Would you like to work on Ending the HIV Epidemic? We are looking for an entry-level epidemiologist to assist in planning and implementation activities geared towards ending the HIV epidemic and two or more other HIV-related projects. The epidemiologist selected for this position will work in the HIV epidemiology section of the HIV/STD Program in the Prevention Division. The main purpose of this position is to assist with data management and analyses. Other activities may include data presentation, provider and patient recruitment, data collection, and project management. Attendance at some meetings, including ones in the evening or out of state may also be required
- Job Duties
- Conduct analyses of HIV surveillance data using statistical analysis software.
- Write reports, including creating tables and graphs.
- Present findings to a variety of audiences.
- Manage data from multiple projects, including core HIV surveillance, partner services data, data-to-care, molecular HIV Surveillance (MHS), and the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP).
- Other duties as assigned, such as medical record abstraction (e.g. seeking an antiretroviral start date) and assisting with MMP recruitment

- Epidemiology training and knowledge.
- Knowledge of local HIV epidemiology and surveillance
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, persistent, and self- motivated.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in SAS (Statistical Analysis Software) programming, including SAS macro programming, is highly desired. Substantial experience writing code for SAS or similar statistical programming packages (SPSS, Stata, R, or Python) is required.
Desired qualifications:- Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (general and HIV-specific).
- Knowledge of phylogenetic/genetic cluster analyses.

Work Schedule and Location
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. The work schedule is 24 hours per week with days and hours TBD.
This position requires flexibility to accommodate different work schedules and work locations. Regular remote work may be required, Public Health will provide the new hires with a computer laptop, however, other tools necessary to successfully work remotely will not be provided. You will need to have sufficient equipment and an internet connection to work remotely. The home site is King County Chinook Building located at 401 5th Ave. Seattle WA 98104
