Epidemiologist II - Data Manager
- Summary
The Tuberculosis (TB) Control program of Public Health- Seattle & King county is seeking an Epidemiologist II (Data Manager) for the Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium III (TBESC-III) project.
The Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium is a partnership of the Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (DTBE) with academic institutions and TB programs that focuses on strategies and tools to increase diagnosis and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in high-risk populations.
Under the direction of the Senior Research Coordinator, the duties of this position include data management (e.g., data extraction, transformation and secure submission, development of SQL code and applying data flows and business rules) and data analyses This position is also expected to develop data documentation and mapping guide, assist the clinical EMR informatics and the data analyst with mapping the data elements and format for data submission and perform quality checks.

- Develop data documentation and mapping guide
- submit data including all required variables following the methods outlined in the project procedures
- perform analysis of data submitted to create an LTBI care cascade and collaborate with CDC team
- submit quarterly datasets to the project sponsor that include the required minimum data elements
- perform data quality control and assurance practices before each data submission
- Quarterly data documentation changes in data collection Identify any expansion of data collection and procedures conducted to harmonize
- Assist with the development of Cost-Effectiveness data collection
- Collect and submit cost-effectiveness data
- Participate in the site quality management activities
- Participate in study specific trainings, webinars, conference calls and scientific meetings
- Assists the senior research coordinator in developing and writing project plans for each specific studies
- Perform other tasks as delegated by the senior study coordinator
- Assist with routine data verification and quality control, ensuring data integrity and consistency with prescribed project protocol
- Assist with writing manuscripts and presentation related to the project
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Knowledge of epidemiology, biostatistics or closely related public health field with emphasis on epidemiology that is equivalent to a master's degree.
- 1-2 years’ experience in TB prevention and control and infectious diseases
- Expert in Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Experience working with EMR/HER systems and understanding of the healthcare clinical domain
- Exposure to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts and process
- Working knowledge with structured and unstructured data
- Knowledge of survey instruments, data collection and computerized database systems.
- Knowledge of applied research methods and techniques
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work, strong problem-solving skills, and proactive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities
- Experience with responding to inquiries about procedures and processes related to the research project
- Two years’ experience with monitoring data systems, running and analyzing reports
- Strong commitment to data integrity and continuous process improvement
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability in problem solving, showing initiative, and exercising independent judgment
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, medical professionals, and the public

Work Schedule
The individual selected for this position will have a work schedule typically between the hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position FLSA Non-exempt and is eligible for overtime.

Telecommuting
Some of the work associated with this position will be performed predominantly through teleworking with reporting to office location and to meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
