Summary


King County International Airport (KCIA) is looking for an Equipment Operator! This position is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at King County International Airport (KCIA). This position will assist with the sweeping, mowing and snow removal of the airfield and landside surfaces. Occasionally special projects involving digging, grading, loading, compacting, & lifting in an efficient, productive and safe manner will be necessary on airfield and facility grounds.


SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES:
These positions are open to all qualified applicants. Vacancies that occur in the next 12 months can be filled with this recruitment. To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum demonstrate skill and ability to:
•    Operate a Mechanical Sweeper on airfield and facility grounds;
•    Operate a Tractor mower on airfield;
•    Operate a Boom truck at various locations;
•    Operate a Backhoe and Front loader for digging, excavating, loading and backfilling;
•    Operate other equipment such as a snow blower/ broom, grader, and other heavy equipment;
•    Apply knowledge of driving laws and proper use of equipment, road building materials, basic survey principles, construction safety principles, and environmental regulations;
•    Respond to on-site accidents, emergencies, and hazardous spills to assess immediate concerns and possible equipment use;
•    Monitor, control and direct activities at job site;
•    Perform visual safety inspection of vehicle; checking fluid levels and tire pressure, refueling vehicles, maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform pre-trip inspections.

Union Representation: This role is represented by International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 302.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE:
•    Demonstrated recent experience safely operating heavy equipment;
•    Demonstrated application of safety procedures with operating heavy equipment;
•    Ability to respond to on-site safety situations and emergencies;
•    Ability to work in a team and independently;
•    Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner via radio communications;
•    Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
•    Valid Washington State Driver's License upon hire;
•    Valid Washington State Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License upon hire;
•    Current Washington State Department of Transportation Medical Card;
•    Candidate must be able to work on heavy equipment and machinery on different surfaces, grades and terrain in heat/cold, wet/humid, inclement weather and other adverse conditions such as odor, high volume noise, dust and heavy aircraft traffic.

Offer of employment will be contingent upon satisfactory drug testing, physical examination and verification of a valid Washington State Driver's License, valid Washington State Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with current Medical Card, and satisfactory supervisor level reference checks.

WORK LOCATION:  
The primary work locations for this position is King County International Airport, 6518 Ellis Avenue S, Seattle, WA

WORK SCHEDULE:  
This person will work a swing shift from 4pm-12:30am. Schedules are subject to change. This full-time position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Overtime work may be required. Alternate shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, as well as extended and/or flex scheduled work hours may be required to meet the operational business needs of the Airport. For all positions during scheduled runway closures, there is no scheduled time off.

The work associated with this position will primarily be performed onsite; this is not a telework position.
