The Rail Division at King County Metro Transit has an outstanding Special Duty Assignment (SDA) opportunity for a high-performing, experienced Executive Assistant to execute complex and critical administrative support for the Rail Division Director's office. The term of this assignment is expected to be six months.
Metro Transit’s Rail division operates and maintains both Sound Transit’s Link light-rail system and the City of Seattle’s streetcar service, focusing on providing the highest quality service and being the best partner. These rail services complement Metro’s robust fixed-route bus system and other mobility services. Together, these agencies are working to build an integrated system that allows people to travel farther, faster, and with greater ease. The Rail Division is critically important to attaining that vision by supporting high-quality rail service today and building a strong foundation for future growth. The division emphasizes safety, diversity and inclusion, workforce development, and continuous improvement. - Job Duties
Applying equity and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work. This position will be delegated authority to independently handle many daily and long-term administrative support duties. As the Executive Assistant, you will:
- Help improve coordination and communications across several lines of business at Metro, as well as within the Rail Division.
- Ensure staff follows Division processes and standards as well as help create and implement new ones.
- Frequently disseminate and relay instructions from managers to other staff and ensure follow-through of those instructions.
- Support the Rail Division Director and Deputy Director to plan and execute their vision for the Rail Division.
- Maintain a dynamic and at times demanding schedule for the Division Director and Deputy Director: preparing meeting materials, arranging travel, reviewing and routing correspondence and memos, retaining records, supporting payroll and expense processing, and completing special projects as assigned.

- Have intermediate or expert-level skills with technology tools: Outlook, Excel, and Word - required; Visio, SharePoint, and PowerPoint– preferred.
- Have previous experience providing administrative support to executive leaders.
- Have ability to display a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Desired Qualifications (not required):
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
- Experience with performance metrics.

Work Schedule
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is therefore eligible for overtime pay. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered.
Work Location
The primary location of this position is in the Operations & Maintenance Facility - 3407 Airport Way S,
Seattle
During the mandatory telecommute order, work will be done remotely, but the assignment may include on-site visits to Metro facilities.
