Family Conciliation and Evaluation Specialist - Two Openings
- Summary
Superior Court will be filling two Family Conciliation and Evaluation Specialist positions.
A 1.5% General Wage Increase will go into effect July 2020.
The responsibilities of this professional-level classification include performing clinical evaluations, interviewing parties and writing comprehensive reports regarding family law matters. The incumbent educates, facilitates, mediates, assesses, and provides resources to assist parties in disputed family law cases.

Work location: These positions are located in the King County Courthouse, 516 Third Avenue in Seattle, Washington and in the Maleng Regional Justice Center, 401 4th Avenue in Kent, Washington. The incumbents may be required to work at other court facilities.
Work schedule: This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Variations from those hours may occur, including early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime-eligible.

- Job Duties
- The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level.Provide clinical evaluation to include case specific and often complex analyses, and make recommendations regarding a full parenting plan and ongoing treatment, the need for protective orders, or immediate services.
Interview parties involved in parenting plans; third party custody cases, modifications, relocations, family law litigation, domestic violence assessments and emancipation petitions and marriage waiver petitions.
Provide extensive written reports to the parties and to the court in accordance with federal and state requirements. Make recommendations to the court regarding family law petitions being filed.
Facilitate and mediate discussion and resolution of contested parenting plans with family law litigants.
Confirm all consents to relinquishment of parental rights in independent adoptions.
Serve as an expert witness in court and in depositions regarding Parenting Plans, Risk Assessments, and Domestic Violence Assessments.
Obtain information from other agencies to assist the court in determining the best interest of the children at issue in family law cases.
Teach and develop curriculum for parent seminars and Continuing Education family law classes.
Perform other duties of a similar nature and level.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Master’s degree in related field, and three years’ experience in a related field or clinical area of assignment. Experience in case management and general clinical expertise in family dynamics, counseling, evaluation and assessment techniques is desirable.

Special requirements: Finalists must successfully pass a criminal background investigation and a reference check. A valid Washington State Driver's license or the ability to travel throughout the County is required.
