- King County District Court ProfileKCDC is the largest and most technologically advanced Court of Limited Jurisdiction in the State of Washington. It currently processes approximately 200,000 matters per year with 25 elected judges and roughly 260 employees at 8 courthouse locations. The Court is a leader in many areas involving public safety and access to justice, including the use of problem-solving courts, jail-alternative programs, technology- and judge-managed probation services. Fourteen cities contract with King County for court services provided by KCDC.
Competitive Fiscal Specialist Clerk CandidatesKing County District Court is seeking two Fiscal Specialist Clerks. For each of these positions, we are looking for someone who is an active learner, adaptive, reliable, and action-oriented. Fiscal Specialist Court Clerks provide technical, financial, accounting and/or fiscal support services. Duties also include basic coding of financial, accounting and/or fiscal information, calculating accounts payable and accounts receivable and cashiering.
Fiscal Specialist Clerks must provide outstanding customer service during stressful situations, have impeccable attention to detail, thrive in a team environment with superb problem-solving skills, and be comfortable interacting with executive-level management and members of the public via telephone on a daily basis. We need Fiscal Specialist Clerks to be committed to continuous learning, open to change with a positive attitude, and be able to succeed in a fast-paced and a culturally-diverse environment. Candidates with fluency in one or more of the following languages are encouraged to apply: Amharic, American Sign Language, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Samoan, Somali, Spanish or Vietnamese.We are currently filling two positions, one Regular position and one Term-Limited-Temporary position that is expected to last through December 31, 2022. - Job Duties
- Provide specialized and/or technical information that requires moderate interpretation of established policies, procedures and guidelines to internal and/or external customers. Some incumbents may have to deal with sensitive and/or potentially volatile situations.
- Compile data that may require information searches through files, contracts, records, or computer files, including spreadsheets and/or customized database applications.
- Perform basic numerical calculations involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashiering, reconciliation of accounts, monitoring of routine expenditures, and/or other applications.
- Perform financial auditing and basic coding of financial, accounting and/or fiscal information.
- Establish, maintain, modify, retrieve and track financial, accounting and/or fiscal information using a variety of methods.
- Enter, obtain and/or verify financial, accounting and/or fiscal information following established defined methods and guidelines.
- Process reports and update databases.
- Provide technical assistance to customers with regard to appropriate and applicable codes, policies, regulations, contracts and laws.
- Maintain inventory of check logs and responsible for maintaining control of check stock until returned to management.
- May compose, draft, type and/or word process, proofread and edit documents, contracts and/or correspondence.
- Process mailings and documents that may require attaching related correspondence or information; select mail to handle personally where the response requires specialized knowledge of the assigned function; identify priority and/or time-sensitive matters; and maintain security and confidentiality.
- Review desk procedures and edit to ensure accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Selection process: Application materials will be screened for qualifications; the most competitive candidates will be invited for one or more panel interviews. - Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and move and/or lift up to 10 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office environment with a moderate amount of noise (computers, printers, light traffic). This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
